Default Brock Made (& modified) Fords

Now, we all know that Brock was a 95% Holden type of guy right?

Well, i've just read an article in the latest Unique Cars magazine (December).
It features an article on the EA Brock specials (which I was aware existed and I'm sure you all did too)....

But it does mention that there were others made by the company called Austech. Now these weren't 'FACTORY' Ford brock cars, but nor were HDT vehicles either.

The article mentions something about the 3-4 different levels of 'BROCK' modifications that would/could be done to the EA Ford. It also mentions that there was at least 18 Fairlanes, 11 Mavericks (Ford version of Nissan Patrol), Possibly 5 TX5s.

Does anyone know of ANYTHING about these cars? I'll bet that these are diamonds in the rough, and people do not know that they are sitting on a classic.... either that or they've already made their way to the scrap yard because they were unloved EAs.

I'm very interested in these vehicles, as I believe that the obscure and strange cars are often the most interesting and collectable (though I will never own a Leyland P76 - thats just going too far)...

So if anyone has any info/photos/stories on any of the above FORD BROCK vehicles, please post?!??

Quick update.
Just found this at

http://www.aussiemusclecarmuseum.com.au/advertise.shtml

*lifted from their page*
EA Fairmont Ghia Brock B8 'SE' / NA Fairlane Brock B8
Brock and GMH have just endured a very bitter and public spit, based on a mysterious little device called the 'energy polariser'. Brock Cars has called it quits after only 3 months of predelivering Lada pussbuckets. It's mid to late 1988 and Brockie's looking for a new gig. Meanwhile Ford is looking for tenders to have aftermarket suppliers doing for Falcon what HSV has been doing for Holden. Brock gets the job. Soon 127 EA Falcon S Packs, 18 Fairlanes, 10 Fairmont Ghias, the odd Falcon wagon, a Falcon ute (the famous Shannon's promotional unit), even a Telstar and Maverick 4WD or two get the master's touch. Typical mods included unique Brock designed 16" alloys, lowered Bilstein suspension, Genie extractors and twin cat exhausts, modified Recaro style seats, Sportline leather wheels, full body kits, colour coding and special Brock badging/decals. Power was up around 25%, and it was a tidy package....

It's a shame no one bought them. They were expensive. You could build the same car for less. But most of all, people couldn't relate to Brock as a Ford builder. Production ceased mid 1990, Holden and Brock kissed and made up, and that was that.

I have a copy of the wheels MAG that features the brock EA Fairmont Ghia 5 speed up against the VN SV88. From Memory the brock falcon has 171kw which is a fair bit for a car made in 1988, definantly more than some extractors and twin cats.
EDIT: It was modern motor Mag, and the VN was the SV3800.
Brock EA was $35000 new, sv3800 was $39400.
Engine details- new camsharft, shaved head, extractors, big bore exhaust, reprogramed ecu and a basic cleanup of the ports. 171kw at 4500rpm and 366nm at 3600rpm.

I dare say it would have slaughtered the 120-128kw SV3800.

Remember years back my mum and i test drove one when she was in the market for a car.

They are a great car to drive, very nice indeed.

FYI, the old girl ended up geting an EF XR6 in any event as she had an EB Falcon and wanted to upgrade.

Yeap all those people that had them before he passed away will be thinking twice about ownership if they need a buck. Considering that if they brought it second hand it wouldn't have cost that much, not long ago you couldn't move a Brock EA if you where asking more than 7k or so; and thats a mint one.

Ive never seen a Maverick or TX5 version though.

There was a Red XF ute in a caryard in Frankston that was apparently a Brock, it looked pretty worn and shabby. I didn't really check it out too much, they wanted something like $6000 for it.

Not even $500. There realy only worth something to a person restoring a Brock EA that doesn't have the correct wheels.

Brock Fairmont Ghia Carsales Vic

I accidentally came across this a while back when I was looking for manual Falcons, I clicked Fairmont instead and that came up. I don't think it would be worth $8500 though, barely anyone knows about them (As proved by that unique cars article) and its an EA Falcon which is starting to get a bit long in the tooth these days.

Come April, I could actually buy it but it wouldn't be for "investment purposes". I'd buy it for like $5000 for my first car, but not $8500. How can you tell if they are authentic? Does Ford Australia give out letter of varification like they do with ESPs or something?

I used to own a HDT VN Aero, which was made after Brock split with Holden. I sold it for no more then what you can get for a VN SS, the market is a lot smaller for these cars.

Non Holden/HDT "Brock's" aren't that collectible for investment purposes in my opinion. However, they do make interesting conversation pieces and you can pick up a nicely modified car for a cheap price.

Spose other interesting stuff brock did was also a TN/TP magna, fitted with alloys, stripes, sports seats and minor engine mods. Have never been able to find a pic. But I say that it was a very limited limited limited model...lol

Ok all original Brocks came with there id plates inside engine bay.On these id oplates it states this
This included one on the shock tower.
There is signature on dash and some of the brocks had a build number on the glove bpx as well.
Well Fairlane went down here for 11000. But it was mint and about 2 years back.

Daymoe- Mate well best luck finding one for that price there is one that went on ebay about 2 months back that was totally stuffed and had tears dints and a auto replacement of the factory manual .
It sold i believe for 4350

That carsales link I posted is $8500, but I bet I could probably bargain him down. Not to $5000, but probably $6500 or something. If i go to check it out, check under the bonnet for ID plates, tacho for his sig, back of the car for Brock logo, glove box sig etc. It says it has the sig on the glove box. The build number matches up with here:

http://www.geocities.com/brock_fords/survivors.html

Apparently they do the 1/4 in the high 15 second bracket at 140-50km/h. What does that compare to? The only reason I'm not too enthusiastic about is that its an EA, Dad had one and it was the worst car he'd ever owned and I remember it breaking down lots and he ended up selling it for $250 lol.

Though, its still cheap compared to the other cars I've been looking at and its a first car, its meant to be cheap and cheerful.

As already qouted in this
HSV vn
SV3800- 132kw @ 5600rpm 292nm @ 3200rpm
Standing 400m
SV3800 16.04sec @ 140.4kmh

brock EA 15.61sec @ 145.4kmh
The mag does state that both cars were about half a second off what they could do and it was a slow day.
0-100kmh
SV3800-8.74
Brock EA-8.28
Its also worth mentioning that the SV3800 was an auto and the Brock EA was a manual.

THis is what it was compared to at the time.
It was also compared to the v8 vn and only just finished behind it .
I believe that 0-60 was a bit off but the v8 vn did something like 15.51 or somthing like that
