Good to hear.

Also good to see they use actual tests instead of opinions.
(eg. Cabin noise at 100km/h on sealed roads was 73dB, usually you read "The calias was quieter and is a better car overall".

I must be reading the table incorrectly because it states the Falcon at 73db and the Calais the quitest of all six at 68db. That's a fair amount considering how the maths works for db ratings.

Yes there is quite a bit of variance in the noise figures for the 6 cars. The actual article (as opposed to just the table) details some more info on the noise readings esp. on different surfaces.

Good to see you were able to find something positive for the calais out of those numbers wally.... :

Always firing arrows from the safety of the group eh. : I haven't offered any opinion and you still feel it necessary to cause a quarrel. I wouldn't mind the tease if I was allowed to give as good as I get, but that ain't gonna happen is it.

And ponder, for every member you send packing in anger, you deliver one more sale, if not more to the competition. Holden loves you. :togo:

Hey relax wally...it was just a bit of a laugh.: As for your right of reply....i aint gonna stop you.

As for sending people 'packing in anger', well while a sale is sale, if a person wants to pick the car that game dead last over the one that came first, because of a harmless comment of mine, then frankly i don't want them driving a Ford. They clearly don't deserve a G6ET...kinda like automotive karma.

Yeah, but 73db is still pretty quiet for something with the same acceleration velocity as an F-18 Hornet........

Mind transalting what the hel you are trying to say?

If you are implying I don't have the XP, ask around and you'll find a few members who can vouch it's real. I had the build thread removed because of the nonense. The shame is for those genuine members who wanted to know how to put rack 'n pinion in, power boosters, air conditioing, etc. So who lost out here?

Thanks for the lice comment, below the belt and gutter, but funny as hell to bottom feeders.

come on, the comment was nit picking at its best,

Here is an article where a Ford wins out over its competition, and you somehow have to find a negative in comparison to the calais,

From the article "The fighter-jet style induction noise is seriously addictive and is unlike any other car on the market"

I dont see it as a negative personally, its a very quiet car driven sedately..

Out of all the cars, I reckon the Aurion has the best looking cluster out of them all:

Its also good to see Ford getting up there with the awards.

Have to disagree, the screen looks tacky, and so does the trip button thingo.

I like the big centre screen and buttons on the sides/steering wheel like the Fords and Holdens.

VE 3.6L which Wheels said was going to be the new "hottest six since the charger" was an ordinary 7.25s and slowest of the 5 cars, plus 1 jet (G6ET!)

G6 vs SIDI around Mt Panorama in an endurance test at the speed limit in another thread.

G6 was well ahead in "driver's appeal" and fuel consumption as well.
SIDI is a bit of a joke when it comes to real-world driving ... fine it can get good consumption when crawling at 80km/h on a flat road to Melbourne from Sydney ... but man it'd annoy the hell out of every other driver on the road doing so.

Yes it is. But it is Japanese designed, which is why it's entered as a Japanese 'competitor'.

Much like the Accord is Japanese 'competitor' but AFAIK is made in Thailand.

Great article, really makes Wheels seem idiotic. One thing that confuses me, why did they use a turbo Falcon? All of the competitors were NA 6 cylinders. That said though, I would still think that the G6E would have won anyway.

Price Calais V and G6ET were similiar in price. Plus im betting Ford rammed a press fleet Turbo down their throat to get this outcome. Dont think it really matters, Ford one the test for its overall refinement not its sheer grunt. I dont think even a v8 Calais V would have done much better, sure it has the performance, but the world has passed the VE by.

Price! They used the top of the line vehicle they could get for under 60g. Why not use the turbo .

After having my G6ET for a bit over 3 months now this result doesn't surprise me in the least.

With them putting the Calais in last place is about right because that is how far advanced and refined the G6ET is to it.

Great car Ford, all the people that developed this car should be proud of the truely world class car they produced.

Yep, no surprises, although I thought the Calais might have gotten 5th or 4th.

I hadn't really noticed the boot hinges on a VE before. I seem to remember Holden spruiking how the boot hinges no longer protrude into the cargo area and I thought at the time "Falc's only had them since AU" :togo:

But I didn't realise they were god-awful fully-exposed twin-metal-strap type things that look like they come straight off a Cortina bonnet. Big engineering shortcut there.

Good to see a straight to the point, factual article for once. A nice change from the egoistic heavily opinionated crap we usually get.
