I wash it quarterly, myself, bucket, sponge and chamois. Takes a few hours from top to bottom but I'm thorough.

the el has chamios scratches all over it from continuous use on multiple cars through car washing . do it yourself . in this case a hand job is not the safest way . unless its yours.

You get swirl marks from car washes. Sometimes the recycled water is not filtered well enuff, and sometimes there is dirt on the brushes.

Hand wash all the way.

Lucky if it's only "swirl marks"!.... I know of a certain drive thru carwash in "the west" where a guys car almost got "shotblasted" after some inspired ratbag tied 10mm hex nuts to the rotating brushes! (true story)

My car gets hand washed only (although my brother tried to do the right thing when he borrowed it and took it to a car wash, needless to say I wasn't happy!).

I'd never go to a drive through car wash. I do use the high pressure ones and do it myself. Just give the brush a good blast and you'll have no prob's, oh and be careful.

Why take the dog out at all, two jobs done for the price of one. I don't wash my dobermans, just let them build up a crust and it falls off eventually.

i used to go to a carwash, but one with the hand lances and the thing with the mop head on the end of it. however i got scratches from this too, because the mop was often dirty (near a 4wd beach so lots of dirty 4wd's use it)

lots of soapy bubbles...its like im massaging and nourishing my paint job....besides my car would probly fall apart if washed in an auto thingy......the killer is putting the polish on consistently and getting it all off.....i checked out a supercheap buffer but they look like they'll do damage

My method - three buckets - 1 x shampoo, 2 x water for mf mitts cleaning
I do the first side of the car with my extra large mf mitt (cleaning it three times per panel)
Other side gets my standard size mitt and the third bucket of water for cleaning it.
Dry with waffle weave MF towels.

Chamois can scratch, leave trace and wipe lines, weaken waxes and sealants within four washes and will not last as long as mf towels.

It's a longer process but equals almost zero swirls and is essential for people who have near perfect to perfect paint. Last think you want with a mirror finish paintjob is swirls and marring from inferior wash method

nothing wrong with a high pressure gun, I use it on mine but aim it across the paint, not straight at it or use it four to five feet away from paint.

FEATHERS - please don't polish every weekend. wax or seal every three to six months, clay when necessary and polish only when you absolutely have to

I could get flamed for this , but i use poligraze waterless wash on my car with a clean microfiber cloth, works well with no swirls. About once a quarter do a deep clean (water) and glaze. Get My 2yr old daughter to help, can get amusing when it's time to do the roof

Thorough hand wash with a qaulity wool mitt, lightly chamoied, then finished with soft terry towells. << Store bought cloth nappies are cheaper! And just as good.
Have used the high pressure car wash bays, but never the brush. I always take my mitt and my own sudds. There is a sign there stating ur not allowed to use your own, but nothing has ever been said to me about it, so f-em. Oh and i don't move until i am finished..polish, wax..e.t.c..

Hand wash every two weeks (unless raining), and than I just dry the windows and vacuum the carpet and give the interior a clean. Not a fan of doing it but it has to be done.

Mine probably gets washed atleast once a week, sometimes more (depending on how dirty it gets.

Wash with meguires car wash and a soft sponge, and dried with a chamois. Usually takes me a couple hours. Id say the cars gets a waxing with tome of that mequires gold class stuff every month (thats more then me).

I follow the rule that you only wash your car the same way you would wash yourself.
You wouldnt blast yourself with a pressure washer so why blast paint.
Pretty sure I read this in HOTROD magazine years ago and it made sense.
