Will be interesting to say the least. Looks like either projector headlights, or xenons. Either way, it does look very mean (esp the deap grille integrated into the bumper!)

I'm definitely interested in seeing how quick it is, and how it handles. This is going to be a revver and a screamer!

Hey Photn,

I do believe the Swift has outsold the Fiesta every month since it's launch!

Check out Macathur Square carpark on a Saturday, or the Catholic Club carpark of a Sat night. The swifts outnumber Fiestas 2-1. I can see why as well, its very BMW Mini-Cooper in its styling, and side by side it looks better than the Fez in my opinion.

Yes, I think that perhaps this could be just the "sharp prod up the ...." Ford Australia need to act, they simply cannot let their main opposition bring this car to Oz and sit back and do sweet nothing, particularly with the success of the XR5 Focus over here and the fact that Suzuki is already shafting Ford in the small car sales race anyway with what is the basic model Swift that is currently available, let alone this one.........if Suzuki then develop a new Gti version......."Ford will be down for the count!!"

Ford need to stop hiding behind the Territory + Falcons for sales and start making an impact on the small car market.

The Fiat Bambino would look pretty hot in the original Abarth colours much like Teki's Renault would look sweet with Gordini stripes. I'm less worried about the Swift than I am about the Colt Turbo.

When a company spends around $1billion developing a new model it's somewhat expected that they put the bulk of their effort into selling it. That's not to say that the ST shouldn't be brought over here but when your primary product and biggest profit margins come from the Falcon and Territory, you'd want to make them as competitive as possible first.

Inevitably, the small car market is going to boom, if not it's already happening. Many smart car companies already focus on their small-medium sized cars.

Any idea of prices for that Swift? Looks very nice IMHO- another option to look at once the savings increase.

You're right, the Fiesta ST is exactly the car I'd want to own. The Zetec is the Fiesta I'd live with and most likely be happy with.... but with so many other options out there from other manufacturers....

Personal opinion, but I don't like it. The front bumper looks like those bumpers from Need for Speed, and it also gets to me how high the door's seem. But apart from that everyone's sure cracking onto the small car market. It'll be "hard" for Ford to track onto the small car market, everyone relates to "falcons/big cars/brute power" when they think Ford including me.

But this should be interesting (:

Fiesta RS was scratched in the UK but they might change there mind hopefully.

The New Suzki Swift premiered at the Paris Motor Show this past September. This fourth Generation Swift will replace the Suzuki Ignis in the Junior World Rally Championships in late September of this year. Expect Suzuki to take advantage of the opportunity to also debut the new 2006 Swift GTi simultaneously. Horsepower is expected to get a slight bump over the previous Swift GTi from 100hp to 115hp coming from a 1.3L lump. The Swift will have all of the top-of-the-range bells and whistles in addition to a body kit, sporty alloys wheels, twin exhaust, 5 speed manual transmission and 3-door only. There are rumors that a cabriolet version will debut at Geneva 2006. "

These are pictures of the Suzuki Swift "Concept S" (aka: new Gti)
I know the whole Suzuki world is very exited about the possibility of finally getting their new Gti......and if it becomes reality and looks anything like this then why wouldn't they.

Rob, the Red car is a concept car, the car posted by Damo is a pre-production test vehicle. Pretty sure that the original posted image is a production ready GTI

I was gonna say that. I prefer the 5 door more, but i love the black rims on the concept car oh and the duel zorts.

But if the new Fiat Bambini comes out (2007-2008 joint venture with Ford) id rather tap that than anything else includeding the Fez ST, even tho the fiat will have less than half the power, it looks like sex on big 20inch wheels.

No 1.3L in the Swift's these days......the current standard models have a 1.5L VVT engine in them developing 74kw@6000rpm and 133Nm@4000rpm with a top speed of 175km/h......pretty much the same specs as the Fiesta, the Fez has a slightly higher claimed top speed and a bit more torque, power output is identical.

with all these new cars comming out, i sumhow feel a little threatened. i like there look and all that jazz. but im a serious ford supporter
i really only will buy a ford. i wont buy a nissan, or a holder 4 damn sure, nor a deawoo, nor a suzuki, i just dont want the fez to become CRAP and out dated. whats the probability that any one here will pull a teki( no offence meant just using u as an example) and buy another car like the punto or fiat Bambini???

Sounds like someone needs to broaden their horizons a bit!

Up until recently that would have meant you were driving a Festiva (made by Kia BTW) or a Ka if you wanted a small Ford.....

No brand loylaty here- I buy whatever's best for me.

BTW I don't think the Swift Sport will quite get there in the handling department, but who knows?
