Thumbs up Hyundai Genesis V8.Confirmed for Australia.

Courier Mail..27th Sept..Cars Guide..Hyundai confirm the Genesis V8 will be coming to Australia. No date or price mentioned. This will make things interesting !! The V8 is a ripper according to USA road tests..If it is priced right..Ford and Holden will have a battle on their hands. More so Holden as Ford as abandoned the V8 in normal cars. They may rue the day they did this.

NICE! Was just a matter of time. Genesis won car of the year in the USA a few years ago.

This will throw the cat amongst the pigeons!

Nice choice. I'd debadge it (I'm not a brand snob, but it IS a Hyundai!). Might even frighten some SS and XR8 drivers.

The Korean cars do not bear the 'H' badge anywhere. Looks like the American ones do. Wonder what it will be badged as here? Seeing how strong the Hyundai following is here it will probable bear the Hyundai badge.

I suppose I could go all bogan and put a chev badge on it. hell I have even seen them on a Cruze and a Captiva.

But I wouldn't bother anyway as I couldn't care less.

Theres You tube dyno videos showing it pulling 271 rwkw. Add that to the 8 speed auto and this thing will be quite swift. Looks like it revved quite smoothly to 6200

Tinker with tune , exhaust and induction slightly and this thing would be good for 280+ ......would make for a nice ride

Nice looking car, my guess is it will be priced around $75K+ FPV/HSV area if its US price tag is anthing to go by.

we have our self's a world class supercharged v8 and turbo i6 in a excellent chassis with almost any option of class ..
id rather spend the extra and support aussie production and jobs while cruising around with my head high.. or buy a second handie and still keep my head held high.
hope it doesn't make it here, and even if it does i hope its a massive flop!!!
i hate the fact that hyondi or how ever you spell it is dominating the car market because the car cost nothing because Koreans get paid 2 cents a hour to build the vehicle.

Maybe the Genesis could be the car to represent Hyundai if they choose to participate in V8 Supercars when the "Car of the Future" is introduced.

V8 supercars is artificial tribalistic entertainment that relies on the innate friction between Ford and Holden subcultures.
The vehicles are almost identical purpose built track vehicles while giving an illusion that they are genuine Commodores and Falcons "slightly modified" for safety on the circuit.

If other marques were to be allowed in it would almost immediately fail as Holden bogans only want to beat Fords and Ford mutants only want to beat Holdens, nothing else matters.

Of course they could change it back to the original format where the vehicles were actual road vehicles but judging by the results of production races in the last decade or so I strongly suspect that it would not be all that popular with about 99% of the V8SC enthusiasts.

I'm well aware of that, that's why I said it would "represent Hyundai" even though it wouldn't be a Hyundai, only resemble it. I thought because the Genesis is a car of similar size to the Commodore/Falcon and V8 Supercar wanted extra manufactures, Hyundai would have a car with a perfect profile to enter the series.

As for if fans would want extra manufacturers in the series is another story.

I hope hyondi never makes it in Australia too. We wouldn't want people to get it confused with Hyundai.

They have come along way, and I say good for them.
If they can keep improving their image, they will attract more buyers which is what all car manufacturers want.

I thought the Genesis had its own badge different to the Hyundai badge, A winged one. Or am I thinking of something else?

If it was a reasonable price and stacked up well against its competitors, I would consider it.

Have a look at the average salaries in Korea. Not much different to here.
Considering the labour factor is about 10% of a car, thats sweet bugger all difference. If you remove shipping, duty etc there is next to no difference in cost. Korea has gotten hold of the volume and thats where they are making the money.

check out the documentaries on factories, and there's not much human input unless you're looking at Bugatti. The level of automation is staggering. energy input costs would be far greater.

BMW's Munich plant is the epitomy of this. I've done a tour through there and the amount of robotics and automation is simply staggering. Best bit about their set up is though endless configuration changes on each car, car by car, without any down time staffing changes.
