Default economore

Mildly surprised when Ford dumped the Econetic. Didn't realise sales were so low, despite all those TV ads a year back. I think Ford paid for down-specing, plus not worthwhile to source one variant from Germany.
Here's hoping the dumping will increase the chance of a turbo. Better get on the bandwagon.

Ford only just recently released a new variant, which dropped fuel consumption from 3.7L/100km to 3.6L/100km, and it's still on the website as an available model?

When did they can it?

Why did they can it? Way too expensive. 95% of Aussies drive autos. It was easily the worst Fiesta to drive due to its 'econo' tyres (I had one as a courtesy car when I lost my CL for a month due to extensive warranty repairs - it handled like a completely different car, scarily so). It also looked the same as Fiestas almost $10K cheaper (whereas the Prius stands out so people know you're a greenie and saving the planet, 'justifying' your outlay). And yes, margins are bigger on the cheaper, though inferior quality wise, Thai cars.

Thanks for the link mate. Guess with the diesel engine option accross the range with an automatic transmission, it was rather silly offering a vehicle that came with less spec, but cost more.
