Default air intake on 1600

got a question bout air intakes and carbys. do u want hot air going in or cold air. i know with efi u want cold air but i think with carbs u want hot air.

any suggestions on good air intake setups?
eskys standard 1600 with the motocraft carby. didnt have the original air cleaner and the piece of crap that was on it is letting in way 2 much air and im getting back fires
need sum suggestions 4 a replacement and also jetting.
got the stock 137 main at the mo and wanna know wot to go up 2
any help would b good
