Red face Was Ready To Blow!!!!

Last night was driving home from a mates place, got half way up west gate bridge and started hearing a popping sound comming from under my car, only seconds after glancing down at my temp guage (which at that time looked like the temp was at half) seconds latter it was running red hot!!!! i pulled over straight away scared SH^%$less the car was overheated but the water light (wich i always look for) never came on once :S... I didn't no what to do, i was 2 big K's walk down the west gate bridge not to mention didn;t whant to leave my baby, so i had about a ltr of water left in a bottle all i wanted to do was to get to the top of the west gate and from there turn the car off and run it in nutural, rolling it down to the next petrol station where it can get some well needed narishment, luckily for me it worked Goin in on Monday to get a full service, welsh plugs FIXED!! (lets hope its not a head gasket) and a fine tune etc just the what doctored ordered.

Did you check your oil? If it's milky, it has got water in the oil, probably a head gasket. Though I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure it's a sign.

i've had a couple of cars make a popping noise, it was a sticking thermostat both times. i would change it and go for a drive before you take it to mechanic.

I got a leak checked out about a month ago and he checked it out saying it was only a welsh plug problem he fixed one that had fully aroded (excuse my grammer) through, he also said it wont be long till the others are gonna need fixing, that one welsh plug cost me 80 to fix the other 6 or 9 will cost me about 450 but its worth it ...2 machanics said it was a welsh plug problem not a head gasket so i hope for the best, i will go check out the oil/water dipstik now the guy told me what you said, "if its got a foul smell and a watery look on the dipstick that could be an indication its the head gasket gone" wish me luck :(

Just checked it out then, the car is running a little rough (due to the fact it needs a service) I check the water levels and the oil dipstick, there doesn't seem to be any water on the dipstick its very clearly only oil (thats a good thing) i checked when the car was off and running for a bout 5 mins not sure if thats long enough but still very much only oil, the water level is fine but its only after a long trip when i eventually stop does all the water just poor out, i always notice the water leaking out straight away from the car, that could be due to to much water hencing the fact it flows out the over flow tude or i dont no ??? any other ideas on what could be cuasing a massive leak after stopping???
