Default Roadworthy issues for engine upgrade on MkII Cortina

I have upgraded a MkII Cortina with a mild 2 litre pinto motor. The car still has the standard non power-assisted disc brakes and I want to know if I will need to upgrade the brakes to pass a roadworthy. Anyone out there tried this upgrade and if so any issues with an engineering report on the modification? Also, if I were to upgrade the brakes, which donor car, ford model could I use that would have a bolt on assembly that would suit a MkII Cortina. I would like to upgrade the brakes anyway since the original ones are a bit soft......Tony
