Hi All,
Does anyone know where in Melbourne I can source a second hand AU V8 Automatic Belt Tensioner. Also does anyone know how much these are from Ford? (Dayco does not make an aftermarket replacement for the AU V8). Any assistance would be appreciated. |

Hi Bluedriver,
Spoke to Gates, they tell me they only do the pulley and not the tensioner. Dayco don't do it either. Ford part is $318.......I won't be paying that |

Thanks for the offer....Just checked the Gates catalogue and there is no Tensioner assembly.
I just purchased a second hand one from Athol Park Ford Wreckers in SA, $90 plus $10 for postage. $100 Second Hand good condition with warranty V's $318 New from Ford, I'm happy with the second hand option. Thanks for you help. |

Norton I have had a look as I'm getting all these bits to freshen up the T3.
Admittedly I have very good connections and as you say may not be on the Gates website but here's the Tensioner part # 38161 The idler pulley part #780-1002 black one with bearing the belt sits on the outside Plastic/ceramic pulley with the groove's for the belt part # 38008 All made in Canada. Water under the bridge but just saying they are obtainable if someone goes the yards for ya.

Checked the website again, you would not believe it but that part is not available on the Australian website or catalogue. I had to go to the US site to find it. Thanks for the follow up, It's good to know it's available aftermarket V's the $318 from Ford. Cheers Norton |
