Hi everyone,
Here is the link: http://www.gng.com.au/motorquote.html It's an insurance broker. I'm going to give them a try. I've seen someone get $310 for a year's premium for an 18 y/o in a Falcon with modifications. Good luck. Andrew.

Remember to read the fine print, not all insurance is equal! Can you choose repairer? Do they use second hand parts? Do you get a car in the event of accident/stolen/write off etc? What is the excess? When does it apply? So many questions you need to ask and be sure you are happy with their answers (and that it matches what the docos say).

Well I got a response recently and thought I would share it with you all.
Full comp, 21 year old, 1994 ED Falcon, manual (not factory), springs, exhaust, extractors, 20,000kms per year, alarm, etc. So the low down, $784 per year with a $350 basic excess through Vero Insurance who I have never heard of! Has anyone heard of them? Good/bad etc? Quote:
Also, does that mean I will only get that price if I go through the broker? Will I be charged extra etc?

I got mine, too. $1,560.49 full comprehensive with $450 basic excess.
2000 AU2 Fairlane, alarm, exhaust / headers, chip, air intake, suspension. I am 28 this year. They told me to call the company (Insurers Hotline) direct, not to go through the broker, so I don't think they'd get any commission, unless they ask me who referred me. I think I'll just go with Just Car Insurance, as I think they pretty much quoted the same.

I was set to go with Insurers Hotline but was told not to by a few people as they can get arky when it comes time to pay up for a claim.
Signed up with GIO today - never again will i go through NRMA.

I'm insured with Esanda (Swann Insurance) for 2 of my cars full comp.
$450 for 97 EL with CD/Wheels/Window tint and Ming protection (full) Pay by the month too $10,000 value. $625 for 02 Mazda Astina with window tint and ming protection (full) $17,000 value. Drivers above the age of 29 finally! The mongrels kept raising the age limit for excess 1 year before I'd get there. Driver history is couple of speeding fines roughly 1 every 3 years and no accidents (our fault) in the last 10 years. We got rid of RACV as they wanted an extra $80 for the EL and an extra $155 for the Mazda per year. [edit]I've asked for a quote on the Mazda out of curiousity.

Mate, Vero is part of the Promina Group, Promina own Vero, AAMI, Just Car insurance, RAC, Australian pensioners, shannons, to mention a few. The equivelent of AIG group is CGU, AIG also has the likes of NRMA, etc. Basically there are 4 major insurers AIG, Promina, Suncorp, QBE group. Most insurances are basically rebranded versions of one of those. So To answer your question Vero would probably be an ok choice if it has what your looking for. Just for the record little known Qld fact. RACQ insurance is 51% owned by suncorp!!!!!!

Suncorp being a major QLD company I wouldn't be surprised. My house loans with them. So is my house/contents insurance. Pitty they were massively over priced when it came to car insurance. They were dearer than RACV!

I can never beat NRMA for full comprehensive insurance, because of age, No V8's under 25.
I (am 24 65%NCB) pay $800 a year on my XR8 ute. My wifes car (she is 21 65%NCB) costs $990 a year on the XR8 sedan Just Cars wanted like $2500 each. Thats just my experience.

My car was in an accident at the start of the year (I wasn't the driver), but it effected my rating, so I guess I don't have a NCB. AAMI want $2,700 from me to renew for one year, which is why I am shopping around.

Finally got a response from the insurance company recommended on this thread(i emailed them 2 weeks ago)...they quoted me $579 for 1 years comrehensive on my 1990 Fairmont,at a market value of $3900.00.....NRMA quoted me $700 at an agreed value of $4750.00......think Ill stick with NRMA cause theyre more convenient

A suggestion I have is to always go for agreed value rather than market value if at all possible.
I'll also say GIO are a great company to deal with, I've not long been insured with them for my new car (about a month) and they've done everything right. Unlike NRMA. out:

I found they couldn't better my Esanda $625pa full comp. The best they could do was $750pa.
