Ok, well, I clean cars for a living, and this really grinds my gears. People bring in cars full of dog hair and grass, and even though the vaccuums at work are very good, this stuff just doesnt come out. What I've found is that using a scrubbing brush gets a bit of it out, but then always leaves the carpet (most of the time the back carpet) really fluffy and sometimes even causes it to start like fraying. If you keep a dog in your car, how do you get the hair out? This is really starting to bug me having to pull out the hair with my hand. Most cars these days have the boat kind of carpet in the back which is the worst for it. Is there another easy way to get it out?

........put the dog in a plastic bag before letting it get in the car.......
one of my pet hates (no pun intended) is dog hair. when i was window tinting it was one of the biggest pains . especialy the back of wagons . i could vacuum , wipe down, spray, cover everything with old bed sheets , till there was not a hair in sight , put on the piece of tint and you could garrentee there would be hair under it. wasted a lot of tint . should have charged extra $100 for dog cars and i still would have been behind. :

After you finish cleaning the car just leave a poisioned treat behind and when they return you'll have less hair, hopefully, unless its one of those families that buys another dog to fool the kids into believing its still alive, but thats just sick.

When my dogs been in my car i get one of those sticky things that you use to get lint off your clothes and get (most of) it off that way. You can get packs of them from for about $2.

gaffa tape from the $2 store (you know that grey tape). gets the hair but leaves the carpet behind as the cheap gaffa tape from silly sollies or somewhere is just stickie enough to get the hair but not rip or damage the carpet in the car. done it before and will do it again. it is still a very long process and you will use half the roll, but does the job.

Packaging tape wrapped over your hand (sticky side out of course), then just pat it over the carpet/seats until it loses it's 'stick'.
The day I picked up my XR I told mum not to go near it with the dog, I didn't want her hair all over my nice new car. So of course the first thing she did make a stupid face at me, open the rear door and put the dog in. Dad and I both yelled at her, and she just went on about how rude we are and ignored us. She doesn't give a rats about her car, but I love mine and keep in in good condition. I will NOT have the dog in my car.

When I was working as a detailer I organised to get a pet comb for work and it was the best thing ever.
You just scraped it over seats, carpets, door trims and majority of the hair would be scooped into a pile so you could just suck it up with the vacuum and the hair that didn't come up like that was never coming out of the carpet (only had that happen in one car but the pet hair was actually so thick we didn't realise there was brown carpet under the grey hair) : I can look up the info for you if you want it, I am sure I have it here somewhere.

i used to detail cars and i know how you feel, i just used the masking tape method and it got rid of it pretty quick. funny thing was i worked at BMW and the amount of times you'd see these like pigs was surprising. any way you know what else grinds my gears? elderly that sit on speeds 10 kays under the limit.....

they are in vic in utes... dog has to be tied in and the lead no longer than whats needed to get it to the side of the tub... needless to say my two lil dogs just sit happily under the tarp with some corners folded down. Every red light they'd stick their head out one of the holes for a gander, always saw people in the mirrors laughing their *** off =)
seriously though, if you're into tinting or whatever, ring up spandex and order a roll of signage application tape. 600mm wide, 50 meters long... like $90 but you'll pick up all the hairs in 2 minutes flat. |

at home i use our vax wet/dry vaccum with the rotating power haed (it's mate for removing dog hair) and at work i just use kitten carpet cleaner spray (in combination with the scratchy top) and for stubborn stuff-the good old masking tape wrapped around hand trick.

I love dogs, but they belong in the back of a ute, not in the car.

i hate dogs on tray back utes with no sides... there is one that lives near my place and everyday without fail you will hear the dog yapping really loud and its on a piece of rope on the back of a ute... how may times have you heard of dogs dieing from sliding/jumping out of utes and choking to death... i think they should have to be transported in a cage no matter what size.

Seriuosly if it annoys you that much why are you cleaning cars for a living? It is their car and they can use it as they please, they are also paying you for a service and if you are not happy to do it then maybe think about doing something else.
Btw my Dog never gets in my car as that is what the mrs car is for.

We have 2 Maltese Cross males that travel with us all the time.
They are never in the front of the cabin, they are restrained behind the seats- One either side. I have a standard Dyson, and it doesn't have a problem removing hair. We keep them well groomed (Short Hair) so they don't leave anything behind anyway. Cheers Darran
