You know what my folks said to me when I asked them to help me out with cash for a car?

NO.

So I saved any cash I had and bought my own car. I appreciated it more that way cause I worked for it and didn't get it handed to me.

Everyone I know that has had parents buy their cars for them have crashed them. And also maintain it for them. And expect them to pay insurance and rego for them too. They don't appreciate the car and just thrash the crap outta it.

Well my perants bought me my car, 10g or so, i pay insurance rego and everything else, mechanics regurly checking up on it always washing it., So it is my car and i look after it as it was 100K car as iv loved the EL for years and am only 1

Using "daddys" money is when your perants buy you a car when you are 25yrs old, not when you are 17-18 and most likely struggling, yes some poeple work from 15, i was in a different position. So i must be a daddys boy, i might get a sticker done for my back window.

the fact that he spelt it incorrect in 2 diffrent post more then once in each means to me he doesnt actaully no how to spell...

i just think its crazy that he thinks that its ok to use his parents money to buy him self a car...and thats what they are there for... i think not...parents are there to take care of you while you are small not to buy you a car for you to get around..

i didnt even bother asking my parents for money as i know what they would have said.
i bort my own first car was a gemini and then a commo wagon and then i got a loan by my self with out there help to get my Fairlane and i feel really good to know that i have achived so much by my self.

well if your going to be like that. its spelt Bought. not bort.

theres nothing wrong with your parents buying you car, whether its a beemer or a corolla, some kids just dont have the time to save the money for this as they are studying, after school sports, Uni etc and if you were their parents would you wanna be their personal taxi service for another couple of years? stuff that.

I am just about 15, and own my XP ute 100% myself, and I wasn't just handed the money, I worked for it from since I was 12 and have also made money selling things on ebay. So when I am on my P's and it is restored people will probably say 'well how could an 18 year old have payed for that, his parents must have bought it for him' I will be able to say I have payed for it and worked on it myself. So what if your parents give you a hand buying your first car? Unless it's a brand new BMW or something what's the big deal?

Hahaha ya big girl! :P I'm going to learn manual transmission (my Falcons an auto - as most are) in a 60 series landbruiser with a 250,000km old clutch, I kid you not. About an inch from the pedal being fully out it starts to pick up haha it sure will be a challenge. I'll hate driving it though because it's slow and I can't hack slow it annoys me haha. I think it's that, my aunty's Camry and the Corolla the instructor has.

Manual EL XR6 one day... :P

I've had:

* 84 TX5 Ghia Manual
* 88 EA Ghia Manual
* 01 AU2 Ex Cab
* 04 BA XR6

Had the BA for 2 and a half years, but I bought it damaged and fixed it up myself (with the exception of the spray, which I helped with at work).

I worked 3 jobs so I could afford all the cars that I've had and it's paid off. The point is that when parents just buy a car for their kids, they usually do not look after it and do not appreciate it either.

You see all the spoilt kids' cars in Chapel street on the weekends.
