Default These aren't rumours....

Next update code named copper head, here is what I have found out in the last week. these aren't rumours. If you don't beleive me then thats cool but time will tell.

- The base 6 cyl engine will be staying at 182kw but will be using less fuel. They will be have higher compression than what is used now.
- Xr6 Turbo will have 6 speed auto kind of the world worst kept secret
- Territory Ghia awd will have a 6 speed auto - unsure if it is just ghia.
- very little has changed on the outside of the XT falcon. hubcaps have changed slightly as well as the front bumper.
- interior trimmed with different matarials
- the XT i saw still has the 4 spd auto

So yeah. some useless info but i find the one about the engine compression and claimed decrease in fuel consumption interesting.

Still going to use the ole 4 speed. Interesting that. I would have thought higher compression in combination with the 6spd would be the goer. Ohwell, Ford think it isnt, and so only time will tell

Meh, fairly boring from Ford again.. Bring on the all new update. Although the fuel consumption will be interesting.

I've heard that an All-New AV falcon will be brought out soon! :monkes:

On a more serious note, that's interesting regarding the compression... so base models will still run fine on 91RON then?

I think 95 ron will become the new standard unleaded for everyone, 98 will become premium and 100 ron will be the new Optimax, Ultimate etc. There was talk of this awhile ago. I think this may have something to do with the new emissions regs that are beginning on January 1st 2006, and the fuel companies will all have to follow suit. Would explain possible higher compression for new Falcon.

The 4spd remains in the base models? That sucks! Are the manual base models still only a 5-spd? Any more info?

I talked to a ford engineer a few months back, and was wondering if these rumours he hinted at hold any truths. Primarily the larger brakes the falcon is apparently receiving and the streamlining (not sure of the word, but i don't mean aerodynamically) of the front end's (mechanically) of both the territory and the falcon so that they share more parts between the two to cut costs. Oh, and the XR6 turbo is apparently going up a meagre 5kW...

Sorry to add rumours to your factual thread Karl :

Ford are going from 4 speed auto to 6 speed auto? Did I miss the 5 speed auto? That could be fitted to XT, Futura, and Fairmont.

Yeah I reckon that the Falcon could quite easily start sharing the Territory's larger discs and all around vented brake setup.

They reckon that all performance and luxury Fords/FPV's will have either a 6 speed manual or 6 speed auto. It's the same ZF unit used in all large Jaguar's , 7 series BMW etc etc. The cost will be considerably more then the current unit, hence only the above get the new 'box until the completely new Falcon/ Territory arrive. Apperently this comes in two tunes (Nm) and the higher tune can handle some serious torque (700 or 800 can't remember). Twin turbo/Supercharged Boss powered LTD anyone? :

: I always find it interesting when people who like a car company enough to post on forums like these, potentially damage the company's future by posting founded, or unfounded information...

gossip and rumours are all part of the fun in trying to guess whats going to happen next, i dont think people trying to predict what is next is going to damage any of the companies future. it wont actually change what is really going to happen

I agree completely. What difference does it make what we say on here? I'm pretty sure holden and any other serious competitors will know far more than we do at this stage about the upcoming falcon. Don't think that holden are completely in the dark.

Part of the fun of guessing what the new falcon/commodores/whatever will have, is that the ideas presented by the public when they guess are generally right due to leaked sources, or they are taken on board at a later stage by the company. I'm not sure what my point is here, but essentially i think our brainstorming and whatnot gives the companies input as to what we wanna see in the future...

Spot on, if it were all true and ford did not want it published it would have been moderated by now given the relationship the forums have with Ford Australia, Nevertheless certain things should remain under wraps pictures etc.

I hear that the 2012 falcon will have 500kw, get 2l/100km, have a 19 speed auto and do a 400m in 3 seconds flat so nobody buy one until then. Ford will be ok without any sales for the next 7 years.

Yeah I heard the new diesel territory will have a Volvo Penta diesel engine, and the 2007 GT would have a detuned version of the 2008 GTHO's v10 - which of course is derived from the BMW m5 when the two companies merge in late 2006.

People posting rumours on here can't hurt Ford more than 'Wheels' magazine printing spy pic's!

Besides, Perfomance and other info leaking out will help people today decide what to upgrade too!

I guess the extreme example of leaks would have to be the leak last year of the new BMW 3 series catalog 8 months before launch- I think it certainly caused some harm to sales of the last series. Then of course there can be legal implications upon staff who leak infomation as well.
