Default Australia Day 2009...How was yours.

Had a great day... barbeque, beers, beach cricket etc, lotsa family and friends.

A few stayed at my place till late around the pool, everyone had left by about 2am, one couple deciding to walk the 1.5kms home.

Around 3am there is a heap of banging on my front door and a hysterical female shouting my name, cautiously opening the front door i am met by the couple that walked home, he is shirtless and covered in blood.

Now my good friend had been wearing an aussie flag shirt that his girlfriend had made him for aussie day 08, and about 20min after leaving my place a Camry passed them, 5min later it came back from the opposite direction, pulled up alongside them where upon three heros jumped out and proceded to give said mate a hiding while ripping his shirt from his back and calling him an aussie ***t, ***thead, bastard etc etc.

Of course when they had had there fun they jumped in the car and took of, leaving a bleeding mate and hysterical girlfriend behind.

After checking him out it turns out he had a bloody nose, split lip and a heap of bruises and grazes but otherwise not to bad, i should point out he is not a small lad and he got a few in himself....

Now i have just finished reading an article in the Courier Mail about a Father of 2 been shot to death in a supposed road rage incident on the Gold Coast, while driving his ute covered in aussie flags....

My question is, WTF is going on with society these days?????

Hope the rest of you had a pleasant day.

Far out that's disgraceful. We need a big boot to kick these people off our shores!

On the other hand I slept all Australia Day but had a few too many VB tinnies sitting in the back of my mates Falcon ute the night before :

I got a cricket ball to the lip. My tooth was in the wrong place at the wrong time and split through my lip. Looked like an iceberg coming out of a bloodied ocean.

Luckily I was too drunk to care/cry.

I landed in Sydney at 7.10am after 5 weeks in South Korea.

-10 degrees to 30 something degrees is a shock to the system.

Then trained it home where I then helped my house mate rip up and clean the damp carpet after the heavy rains late last week exposed a weakness in my drainage :(

Got to about 2pm, and realised that I hadn't actually slept for about 30 hours (can't sleep sitting up and guess which bright spark checked in his sleeping tablets...)

Showered.... crashed into bed, woke up to eat at 11pm only to find the fridge and cupboard empty as I hadn't gone shopping yet...

Woke yesterday morning starving and remembering I had to be at work by 8am...

Bugger Force6! Hmmm Compared to you I had it easy.

Sorry to hear about your mate XA351'... It's disgusting, plain and simple...

Try playing cricket with a bucket and a fence paling. Man that was a world of pain and I felt it when I was wasted :

What the bloody hell is wrong Australia when you can be bashed for being an Aussie? Any one who has a problem with our flag should get the hell out! Those cowardly bastards should be removed from the country (preferably in a coffin!)

sorry to hear about ya mate, but im wondering how many 'effniks' got beaten and abused as well?

i think i actually hate Australia day.
[this isnt directed at anyone in particular.]
it turns seemingly normal people into over patriotic .
if you love the country so much, why not dress up in Aussie flags everyday?

i just hate the whole 'love it or leave it' / 'f... off, we're full' kind of attitudes', and i hate racism.

i spent Australia day hanging out with my English mates in Leeds, England.

Im from Bramley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England originally so know the area you are talking about very well, and the mate that got the flogging ?, well he,s from Italy.....Go figgure..... :

Im no ultra patriotic/flag waving nut job by any stretch, but i think its a sad state of affairs when an innocent couple walking home, get set upon just because one of them is wearing a party shirt made out of a flag..... :togo:

Cracked my first beer at 8:30am.

Rest is a blur. It was something like this, beer beer beer, pool, cricket, beer, food, cricket, pool, cricket, beach, puke, beer, pass out, wake up, beer, food, puke, sleep.

I had a simple one, it involved me cooking the family bbq (my one and only skill) drinking beer and watching the cricket.

Awesome.

Slept in, grabbed a movie from VideoEzy and watched it with the wife, watched some tennis, ate out, watched Top Gear (hilarious) and had an early one. Nice and quiet.

Australia day is....trying not to get bashed by the drunken yobbos lol

Well i slept until 2pm because i was scheduled for night shift, then got the call that it had been cancelled due to little ol' Cyclone Dominic being off the coast. Quickly showered and went and got drrrunk at a mates birthday, (i needed to catch up) listened to Hottest 100 and watched cricket all whilst torrential rain fell outside!!

Well I avoid the Perth foreshore now as I tend to get bent out of shape quite easily by the way some blokes treat the girls in my company and just really look for trouble. I feel for the OP and you are dead right that is disgusting, nothing makes my blood boil more...

So instead this year my day consisted of beer, spa and cricket on tv, and only 2 of those 3 were enjoyable :(

This sort of stuff make me sick. If they hate Australia so much them why the hell are they here, probably because they had to leave whatever country it is they come from because its such a shthole. We take them in and then they do this sort of crap. They should be charged and sent back to where they came from, then they can realize how good they had it here. :

the thing is though, innocent people get beaten up for no reason all the time.
its not like its a one-off type thing.
a good mate of mine nearly got beat up for wearing tight jeans one night!
yeah society sucks.. but what can you do? you cant deport everyone.
