Is the pump actually running, can you hear it prime up on start up?.. Try giving the fuel pressure reg a tap also as they can stick open allowing fuel to return to the tank. Easy questions. Do you have spark etc?

It was flooded.

How does this happen being an EFI car? Not saying your wrong or anything, but just curious. I test drove an XR8 a while back and it did the same thing.

When I first bought my car it would always have trouble starting but after around 6 months it just went good. It was like it was flooding. Someone I knew thought it may have been leaking injectors but it came good for some reason so I never bothered looking into it.

Short trips. Revving the car when you park, and switching off quickly. Cranking with poor spark - ends up over fuelling and is then harder to start. It happens. Ford knew it too; normally you don't touch the throttle when starting, but if flooded, you should put the throttle flat to the floor, then crank - this tells the ECU that it's flooded and cuts fuel so it will start.
