Default cracked Sump

Hey guys

I put my power steering rack through my sump while racing the other weekend.

Rack seems fine, but the sump is a bit of a mess. I have another one sitting there ready to go, but ive been told that i need to remove the whole enging before i can remove the sump. Is this correct?

Another thing i heard is to remove the cross member... Would this be an easier option?

Cheers

Yes you have to lift the engine up to remove the sump or you can always remove the k frame, but it all depends whats easier for you, but its impossible to do it while its in and the suspension is bolted in,

My sump is a bit of a oily mess but mine is leaking from the timming case under the broad band manifold at the front,, only way to stop it is for the engine to come out and to fix the timming case seal

Posted by Xcabbi, Does it slap or rattle? Rattle is more to do with timing chains and tensioners. Slap is more to do with lifters, rings, bearings or GENIII boat anchors
