Default Re: Ford ECOLpi & FG Mark II ?

also bear in mind, if you buy 2nd hand and fit aftermarket lpg, there is a good chance you will lose warranty on your engine. not that anything should go wrong...

the aftermarket systems, particularly JTG, are very good. you wouldn't even notice the petrol side of things. its just that you need to have some in the tank at all times.

i'd say a 09/10 low km fg xr6 + liquid lpg conversion will set you back about $30k. depends on the price of the base vehicle. earlier fg xr6's can be had for about $20k but most likely out of warranty and many more km's.

That's to do with the engine and not the fuel system. The EcoLPi engine was redesigned to take advantage of the higher research octane rating of LPG fuel, however the FG petrol engine also has an adaptive fuel system and will ramp up ignition timing and alter the fuel injection strategy so that on LPG, you will make more power with the Orbital LPI system than the petrol system running 91RON. What is different though is that the petrol engine will produce peak power at 1000rpm higher than the dedicated LPI engine.
