Hey guys,
So basically my boot latch is stuck. The boot pops up when the key is used, but it must not be releasing completely. The main problem is: How on earth do I get in the boot when the rear seat latches are also in the boot? I have completed a Google search, but nothing much came back. A few sites said to push back and up, but their is hardly any give in the seats. I have an LR Focus Sedan. Any tips? |

Aren't the rear seat latches on top of the seats inside the car? The have been in all the cars I've owned.

No, the latches are located inside the boot compartment. So, I can't get into the boot from either side.
Great design. |

That's a terrible design flaw. A quick Google search doesn't really come up with any solutions. Good Luck.

Well I thought I would see what I could do with a bit of elbow grease.
I ended up pulling apart the plastic interior around the rear seatbelt. I was then able to pull the rest of the plastic assembly out that sits below that. I then needed to slightly knead the carpet upholstery above the seats, which lead me to a hole above the seat latch. After a few minutes, a whole lot of scratches and a few cuts, I was able to get into the boot. Now I just need to get the boot open! Should be the easy part. |

Go Kyle!!
The latch or lock has probably come loose. Make sure those seats are down when you do the testing! LOL If either are loose, when you do em up, and get the striking right, put a dab of paint or loctite on the screws/bolts.
