Default dba rotors

Hey guys
Bought a pair of rotors DBA 502 for AU2 and on opening them see that they are solid not slotted. I thought DBA only did slotted and x drilled? Any one know the right part number for the 502 rotors that are slotted ?
Thanks
Rich

DBA make "plain", slotted and xdrilled/slotted rotors.

A friend of mine reckons he got DBA rotors (for his AU 1) for $70 each (not sure if slotted or cross drilled). Does that sound really cheap???

That sounds second hand

Likely to be solid disc, smooth face discs.

lol, yeah that was my first instinct as well, but they're meant to be new. Solid/smooth sounds right. Thanks!

While we seem to be on the subject of rotors, i've had a squeeking noise coming from all four disks and it has only seemed to come about since i put the 18 by 8's on the car, i had my mechanic check it out and he put this new beaute graphite spray on the discs in hope that it would stop the noise, it stopped the noise from the rear discs but the fronts kept on going so i replaced the rotors with brand new ones, i cant remember the brand but they cost me $100 a side and got them from a mate who used to work for ABS in melb, i wanted slotted ones but he insisted that slotted rotors dont get hot enough during everyday driving so they would never work to their full potential therefore not being worth spending the extra cash. Problem is, even with brand new rotors and Bendix pads, the bloody thing still squeeks? Got any ideas guys?

Yeh. Get rid of the Bendix pads. Once apon a time they were good. Now they rely on the name to sell.

For the best prices on DBA's see www.dba.com.au

I got cross drilled and slotted rotors alround much cheaper than I could find anywhere else.

When I put DBA Slotteds on my AUII Futura, they were magic... spirited drives through national parks with heaps of savage braking didn't phase the beast...

Only 1 small problem... I found coming off freeways at 120klm/h in the rain or cold was similar to driving the car through water... initially, the pedal feels numb until some heat goes into the rotors and pads...

This is an interesting thread for me also as the shudder in my AUII XR8 is becoming slightly unbarable, im wondering if i just go ford genuine or look elsewhere? Still obviously want equivelant braking performance.

Would anyone suggest that ultimately ANY rotor will become warped over time? And its not necessarily the FORD rotor thats the problem?

My experience tells me that any rotor will warp if treated bad enough, it is just a question of how much abuse they will put up with. I continually warped my stock rotors and had them machined 3 times in total and replaced once in less than 70,000 k's. I have used DBA rotors on my old ED and I got 100,000 out of them with no problems. I now have PBR premium brakes on my BA and have no problems at all, complete with brakes that are way better than the stockers. Either go DBA rotors (far superior to original and cheaper) or if you really want brakes, get the PBR upgrade (about $2400, slotted big rotors, calipers, pads and braided lines) and get some serious stopping power.

Time, type of use will always wear anything down. Nothing lasts forever.
Seeing you are driving a very good car like my own I am currently running DBA4000Slotted. For sprited street use driving thats all you need imo.
Been on many cruiser's with the guys down here and have not had any fade at all. On the race track I'm sure I would get them over the limit but I don't do any track work so why over spend.
Been using Slotted rotors since they came on the market by DBA and recommend them highly. The only thing extra I suggest you do at the time is get the braided lines for firmer pedal pressure. I will be doing this soon myself.

The PBR upgrade which is fantastic would be great bigger rotor, braided lines etc but that kind of money can go on other items.

Kept the unslotted plain DBA rotors that I bought and fitted Ferodo pads. Paid $99 each for the rotors which after everyone elses posts may have been a bit too much, but I dont care cause i no longer have brake shudder....and it stops when i tellit to....yeehaa...just have to do the rears quick smart.

For DBA part numbers, 502 is correct for an AU2, an S on the end means slotted, an X means cross drilled and slotted, and no suffix means plain.

I got a set of rotors for my ford but dont remember the brand name. They have been awesome and not warping .Lately my pads came metal to metal.I got them machined at pedders and now within a few weeks the dont feels so great.I should have left them with the minor abrasions from the metal to metal. It didnt get tto bad but for safety I got them done. Now they are less safe.

I think warpage depends on the quality of the rrotor and the quality of machining.

I *think* you'll also find that it will also have a R or L after the S or X.

For example, 502SL would be a front left slotted disc for an AUII Falcon.

Correct, but I didn't want to complicate things too much.
