Default PBR upgrade brakes on AU

Hi,

Do the PBR C5 calipers require a bracket for fitment, or are they direct fit?

It is dependant on rotor size as the bigger the rotor the further up the stub the
calliper needs to be

I put the 330mm on my car with a C4 calliper and that needs a bracket for it.

Shaun, just to ensure you are aware, DBA4000 is a style of disk that does not determine the size of the rotor. My DBA4000s are 355mm.

I am pretty sure that Matt from RBS will not give you a bum steer. He would not deliberately misinform you.

Unsure if I follow. Do you mean the number series is just allocated and the size of the disc has no relation?

Anyways, I had organised to buy a set that were being sold by RBS, but from a private seller who'd bought them but not put them on his car but it didn't go ahead. I was a bit annoyed considering I had given the seller my details and told them I would transfer money to their account the following afternoon, they sold them on me.

Anyways, so im back in the market for a brake upgrade. The budget is more inline with the C5 upgrade or tickford twin piston set. There's a couple of tickford ones on ebay atm that im looking at and a pair at a ford wreckers in Adelaide.

Easiest way to describe it Shaun is DBA4000 Series is a model such as AU. Within that model, there are many different variances. Effecively, DBA4000 is a style of rotor, that you can buy for almost any car, so obviously come in many different sizes.

Good luck with your hunt. From memory, my mate Ray is running 330mm disks and calipers from a BF XR6T - I believe they just bolted straight up.

Hope that helps.

Shaun dont waste your time or money going aftermarket, get some BF brakes off an XR8 or XR6T and they will bolt straight up. I know because I did it to the old ute - no extra parts required - calipers, hoses, rotors and thats it.

Spend the extra coin on some good slotted rotors and decent pads and enjoy.

As long has you have AU2 on , and you arnt going to the track, grap a set of BF FG turbo front brakes (322 x 28mm) or even better BA FPV blue brakes (c5 caliper) 325mm x 32mm all bolt straight on.

Try these. Possibly ask him how much thickness left on the front rotors. They start at 32mm and MIN is 30mm. Rears are solid and the same as most BA BF 303mm

I've got the BA FPV C5 fronts with 325x32 and BF XR8 Ventilated 330mm single pistons on the rear of my AUIII XR8. A bit of stuffing around to get brake lines right and the 3mm caliper spacers on the back but they work really well at the track with good pads in them.

The listing is back up. These are 10 times better than the 322mm turbo brakes.

this looks like a good investment http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281097812...84.m1423.l2649 just BYO standard BA callipers ( $20 each from the wreckers) and away you go so about $360 for a 322 mm setup that looks factory

Those Tickford C4 brakes for sale on ebay at that Adelaide wrecker look like a good buy. They come with the upright as well so you don’t have to worry about getting those difficult-to-find brackets either.
That is the route that I took when I upgraded the brakes on my AUIII Fairmont V8 wagon. They are a big improvement over standard and I had no clearance issues with my Tickford 17 inch wheels either.
