Default Superyob Sunday

Hello all. You know what time it is? Yes, that’s right, it’s Superyob Sunday!!! Hopefully a singularly resilient commercial does the right thing and stops interfering so as not to have this vitally informative thread sent to Alaska…

I’ll start with a joke that a student of mine recently told me. If FoMoCo is an abbreviation of Ford Motor Company, what is Holden Motor Company called? Yes that’s right. I think there’s something in that for all of us…

Ok today’s SS theme is something that not even Hu… I mean Voldermort had the courage (or stupidity) to initiate.

Many years ago, when I taught English (this was my subject area when I went through teacher training at uni) I was examining a text with my class, looking at how females are usually portrayed in a passive role, while males are the ones who like to take charge. An analogy I used was that manual cars are almost always marketed to blokes because they like to take control of most situations, while females like to sit back and have things done for them, hence they prefer automatics.

Now before you unload your wrath on me and scream things like ‘chauvinist pig’ and liken me to Heinrich Himmler, I am a 100% fan of the female species, and have 2 daughters, both of whom drive manual cars. My conundrum for today however, is: despite the bombast and bluster of the 21st century, do men still expect to take charge of any situation while women prefer a more passive role?

Im more then happy for my Mrs to be the boss.
That way if things go pear shaped I can through my hands in the air and walk away whilst saying "I didn't make the decision"..........

Women have been ruling the world for at least 6000 years. Anyone who believes otherwise is fooling themselves.

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

Judging by the way some of the younger women (ie : P platers) drive around here, passive doesn't even come into the equation.

Considering how passive my Wife was today (read sitting on the couch) while I washed her Territory then changed a leaking tyre after I noticed a nail embedded in it I'd say the status quo is safe for now.

As a side note I didn't realize the full size spare was limited to 120kph Hmm.

I think it's due to the evolutionary development of a powerful form of intersexual telepathy the human race has adopted to protect the male of the species from mortal danger.

eg. My missus always knows what I want long before I do.

To borrow a line from My Big Fat Greek Wedding, not an exact quote....
"Your Father is the head of our household, but I am the neck. I will turn the head whichever way I want it to go"

Its not that hard, blokes are either hungry or ho**y, the missus doesn't need to be a genious......

A man will take charge of any situation if it requires it. The remainder of the population equipped with male genitalia will fold faster than Sheldon Cooper on laundry day to the whims of their other halves.

So what you are all getting at is that females actively take control from a passive position? Devilishly clever...

Don't hit an iceberg or you'll be standing on a capsized hull with nothing but your *&^% in your hand, while the people that demand equal rights get ferried away in life rafts.

It's simple: I decided on what car, hardware and tools to buy - she decided on the rest.

If she failed in her decision/s, then I said nothing, absolutely nothing.

Major win and no argument was ever entered in to.

Cheers!

Probably won't hit an Iceberg, maybe just Goldbergs along the way I think.
