Default EV World Record 0-100km/h 1.5s

http://www.autoblog.com/2016/06/23/e...-world-record/

Electric cars are quick off the mark as a matter of course, since they're both very efficient with energy and always operate at peak torque. You probably haven't seen a road-going machine this fast, though. Swiss students have shattered the world record for EV acceleration with an experimental race car, Grimsel, that reached 62MPH in 1.513 seconds – over two tenths of a second sooner than the previous best. For context, the 1,480HP Bugatti Chiron hits that speed somewhere under 2.5 seconds.

Like any good performance car, Grimsel achieved the feat through a combination of the right engine technology and light weight. While its four wheel hub motors produce just 200HP, they also produce a whopping 1,254 foot-pounds of torque... and when the car's carbon fiber body weighs just 370 pounds, it's extremely easy to move. Per-wheel traction control helps translate that power effectively, too.

It's doubtful that you'll see this exact car in full-fledged competition. All the same, it bodes well for the future of electric motorsport. As quick as the cars in Formula E might be, Grimsel shows that there's still room for improvement.

I put it into a calculator and it came to 1.86G's (average out over the whole time.COuld be higher for the first half.)

As a comparison, an XR6T taking 5 seconds to 100km/h average a total G-force of 0.56, or nearly 3.5x less. The push back into the seat would be insane

Imagine how it would feel if you had the acceleration of an ejection seat then :

Quote:
The pilot typically experiences an acceleration of about 12–14 g (117–137 m/s2). Western seats usually impose lighter loads on the pilots; 1960s-70s era Soviet technology often goes up to 20–22 g (with SM-1 and KM-1 gunbarrel-type ejection seats). Compression fractures of vertebrae are a recurrent side effect of ejection.
Imagine: 0 - 100km/h in 0.14 seconds!

That can't be accurate.
Top fuel car's normally 60ft around .8 to 1 second by then they are doing approx 100mph (160kph)
So I would think it would be around .5 to.7 sec's on a good run

If you want to talk race cars, the Ford Fiesta Race spec Rally car has accelerated 0 to 100 Kms/hr in 1.5s on slicks for years, (1.9s on radials) so this EV hasn't broken the record overall, Only almost matched it!
Also There's a 2012 - 2013 turn key Boss Mustang you could buy from Ford Motorsport Division specifically for drag racing and it accelerated to 100 kms/hr in 0.9 seconds on slicks with 8 second quarter miles! So there you go!

Imagine converting a Falcon to electric drivetrain for the performance (not being green) and cram a huge generator into the engine bay to power it.

Well, at least that weight distribution would help to maintain the Falcon's "classic" handling characteristics.

It its only for a drag, or to set an acceleration record, just use an extension cord.

Scale speed is a funny thing. Always wondered how fast an RC car would go if it was the size of a regular car, or ants on the pavement if they were the size of cars (those 6wd buggers look awfully fast looking down on them on the pavement) or how fast a bullfly would move if it was the size of a fighter jet.

I don't think they mention braking the outright 0-100 record, only that they've broken the EV 0-100 record.
