Well they've been making complete MK1 & 2 Escort bodyshells in the UK for a while now.
https://www.motorsport-tools.com/bra...nags1tvosqhh12 So I suppose these were the next evolution. https://mst-cars.com/mk2-ultimate-rally-car/ Available in a few specs Touring, Fast road, Group 4 and Group 4 ultimate. They come with a recognized vin number and are road registerable in the UK. Engine options range from BDG/Cosworth, 2.5 Duratec up to a 330+hp Millington. Gearboxes are also optional from 5spd H-pattern to a sequential 6spd. Multi link rear suspension and brake packages are also optional. The prices are eyewatering but with the UK club rallying scene as big as it is no doubt these will sell.

When you think of what it would cost to do a second hand Escort to this spec and finish, like buying a second hand car, have someone repairing rust, seam welding, fitting a cage, full in and out paint job, repro parts etc, $50,000 would be even cheap for their painted shell.
I think they are very reasonably priced for what you get for your $$ |

Don't know but I wonder if it will effect the second hand price of Escorts over there.

A MK1 Fast Road and Track package with the optional 2.5L Millington Diamond Engine is a very tasty proposition.

Say there was a repro XY sedan offered. Would it depress the current market? I can’t imagine why. If anything, it might result in non-sedans being partially rebodied, like the Eleanorisation of Mustangs. |

32 Ford roadster repro shells haven't effected the original steel however stuff like 57 Chevy repro body shells are another thing.

You have to bear in mind that the people buying the repro probably wouldn't have bought a original that needed fixing up, so it doesn't really 'steal' too much of the 2nd hand market. There's plenty of rich guys who want to buy toys, but they don't want a 25yr old machine that breaks down all the time. |

"Ford began to call the engine the "Lotus-Ford Twin Cam". The engine is also known informally as the "Lotus TC" or the "Twink".

Can't you buy a cobra or gt40 kit for less?
Way overpriced to me, but then again I'm not their targeted buyer. Wealthy people like toys and are willing to pay for them, so good on someone making all the chassis and other parts for a long dead (previously dirt cheap and not special) ford. There's a market out there, haven't some racers and celebs named the escort as their favourite car? E: Didn't Greg Murphy spend stupid amounts restoring one recently? Maybe one day I'll have that much spare cash and maybe someone will remake some other classic car I love so much that I would actually would pay that kind of money for. These look like a lot of fun.

Well its the way of the future, same with the 105 Alfa's the prices have gone mental.
You wouldnt get a standard 2 door in decent nik for under $20k these days, let alone a properly modded one.

Nice nod to Ari Vatanen @5:24
Interesting he mentioned potential for EV resto mods, the humble Escort could live on for some time yet.
