Pretty sure they quoted at least 4.4 at least a couple of times. Cant remember what the strip times they said were expected.
As for the GTs and the F6s running 12.2s, will u at least admit that with the extra go fast bits of an R Spec.....it should easily beat stock GTs and F6s? That would mean times if not faster, extremely close and competitive could and should be expected from the fords.
This honestly doesn't leave me feeling unawed at the GTSs speed......but applauding the potential of the cheaper, OLDER,undertyred performance fords.
If i can find the nz mag article ill be sure to send it to you!

Yeah, 0.3 of a second a second is huuuuuge for a car with considerably larger engine capacity and all the gadgets and tech.

See what I mean about Holden squeezers thinking Holedung is the be all and end all. Considering the engine specifications and tech involved, the GTS is not impressive at all when it is arguably on par with the under tyred, under tech'd and smaller capacity GT performance times.

Talk up your average performing, over priced, bloated pile of **** as if it's in a whole other league.

Yeah .03 is a hugggeee diference on here. Just ask everyone that bags the SS out for running 13.2 when our XR6t runs 12.9's...................

Everyone's quick to bag, but not so quick to praise where its due.

I bagged the GTS. I thought it wouldn't be as quick as it is. But it is quick. Some people on here just need to open there eyes.

So we have 100's (?) of Private GT's and 2 have run 12.2.

We have seen 2 GTS's, one ran a 12.2, one ran a 12.1.

Think that pretty much sums it up 1/4 mile wise.

Yes praise where praise is due, and it is not due. As said earlier, significantly larger engine capacity, all the tech wizardry and specially engineered tyres, and it is arguably on par with a GT.

As usual, Holden driver's talk it up as if it's some new phenomenally performing supercar eating piece of kit. It's a Holden. An overpriced Holden.

Monty....I don't get it......your saying you didn't expect the gts to match or slightly beat the ford offerings. You know there's an f6 with that time aswell u know.
So what im saying is...here we have the potential of the GTs and F6s over the last couple of years shown......and the early potential of the much more expensive and better tech/tyred and powered car only matches these numbers.
If your impressed by that then you are an EASY man to impress. Ill wait for better times and domination before i accept this car as a better bang for buck performance car. Maybe the obvious rspec v the gts would be a good idea.....a dry test this time

If those journos ran a 12.1 there's a good chance someone will run quicker with cooler weather and maybe dropping tyres pressure a bit. An 11.9 would be a pretty impressive time for an almost 2tn car

My brother just told me Ls1 forums has a link to a tune house VF R8 at Wakefield park that ran a 1min9.5sec lap time. Previous aussie record was the F6 with 1min10.2sec.

Wouldn't the blown 5L FPV be more technically advanced than the pushrod LSA ?

Does anyone actually believe that marketing crap about pushrod V8s being old dodgy and inefficient. It's a beautiful and efficient way to package a V8 engine, maybe the only way to do it right.

the great marketing hype, 4 valve versus 2 valve. (more is better right?? right?)

their is no difference in either assuming their built to a recipe and not a price.

for generic road apps, their all the same .

Here is the vid, it actually did a 69.10 lap stock so over 1sec quicker than the F6. Would be interesting to see what times it will do once tunehouse start with the mods

There have been a quite a few GTS cars to run 12.6 and 12.8 the 2 you mention and now the quickest. The first cars tested were not that impressive after all the hype.

117mph is very impressive for a stock GTS, From memory a GT will run around 113-114 mph.

Wow, this is a long thread.

I just hope Ford release the last GT with at least 500kW from the 5.8L quad cam supercharged thingy they have in the states. Release it with a big bug catcher and make the VF GTS look like a Barina in comparison.

HSV Barina GTS??? that would be interesting . I hope ford give the Miami V8 a power boost and make it faster then the GTS and still under quote its power figure. Just for ***** and giggles

This is what we want in the last GT. Something that has so much grunt it will shift the centre of gravity of the Earth when you hook it up. Hehe.

I go to Bathurst for 5 days, come back after a great Ford win & have a look on here in the pub section & we are still squabbling over who is the quickest.
I proudly own a SC GTP & it is everything & more than I want in a motorcar but credit where credit is due, HSV have built something as fast or maybe even faster & credit to them for building the SC GTS. I'll never own another HSV after the probs I had with a previous one but all credit to them for now having a serious competitor to the GT Falcon.
Did I mention Ford WON Bathurst? You bloody beauty & thats all I care about right now!!
Frosty. Frosty. Frosty. Frosty.

That's what an open forum is for - this thread is a great read.......

A lot of passion for Ford - you don't get to see that much on here as it's usually a thread complaining about what Ford hasn't done.

Although I am sure those on here that state they have a love for all cars and are not brand specific these same people will be flying the FORD flag high for weeks, months to come after the Bathurst 2013 Win
