how much does your car weigh?
don't XH's weigh a fair bit less then an EA-EL?

Let's see.

Mods when I got the car:

- Extractors
- 17" Wheels
- Exhaust
- 3.45 Single spinner

Mods I've done to make the car fun to drive:

- 5 Speed
- $60 cam
- 3.45 LSD

Arguably those mods are for drivability, not speed.

My car would be lucky to pull a high high 14, or low 15 when it was straight fuel. With gas now, it'll be lucky to get a mid to high 15.

If I wanted speed, I'd have gone NOS or Turbo.

N/A isn't the way to go for speed, without NOS or something. 5 speed, lsd's, they're just for more fun to drive.

If you wanna go fast, it'll cost you money. I'm at the stage now, where I'd need to spend $1000 minimum to get from 140rwkw to 150rwkw. Past 150rwkw is about another $1500.

My mods have been cheap, and account for drivability, and making my car into something a little sportier. Nothing more i hate than an auto, and single spinner.

i am hopeing for a 14sec pass in the ef wagon without pulling the head off, having said that HG was changed by previous owner
hmm i was hoping that the exhaust and intake manifolds would allow me to get enough air-flow to not touch the ecu at that point. I really only want to get the car tuned twice (once after the cam/head, and once after step 8, whether that is a blower or some high-compression pistons I havent figured).

oh, and record for head gasket? at 330,000km i would have to be close.

so has anyone gone and put a hot cam, port job, manifolds etc on a standard bottom end before?

thanks
Ben

the amount of times you've questioned people about going turbo... obviously its not that bigger waste of money if you were considering it.

Haha. I just think the laws are stupid for making it so costly to make them legal. If they could be made legal, and insurance wouldn't rape you, it would be an awesome mod. Home done turbo can be had for $2500. Best bang for your buck easily.

But yeh, to go fast, you need money.

Hasnt had a head gasket change or anything
All factory gaskets, I am pretty sure the rocker cover gasket is factory too

All my mods are in my sig. Mainly intake, and exhaust mods, as well as good timing, and JMM clutch. And I think the clutch is causing some dramas for me :( I dunno wots wrong wif it lol

they probably just say they do and put their sticker on it, I know they have those high-stall converters and they probably do the same thing

I assumed JMM made lots of things.
This is a JMM Extreme clutch. $800 worth or so (came with my T5 conversion)
But there is no slip what so ever

so I take it that its possible to hit the 14s with 6throttles, exhaust, and a diff change?

and has anyone here gone to the trouble of 'manualising' their btr? by which i mean disconnecting everything bar the s1 and s2 solenoids and switching them directly...

JMM extreme clutch is just an extreme clutch (SA company) and yes the Hi stalls are built by another company for JMM and JMM cams are grinded at Wade cams etc. Jim and brendan don't have the tooling to make all there stuff themselves.

But who cares! there gear is proven and works! You pay a premium for a premium product. Sorry for taking this thread on a side track. JMM FTW NA!

hardly off track, this thread was about making the ballsiest OHC falcon for the cheapest amount of money. Now that we know the manufacturers, they might sell us direct...

doubt it though...

So is the consensus that a mid to low 14 is about the max for an "unopened" eseries?
