That 2008 Lancer pictured there looks carbon copy of the EVO X, hence the comment of EVOs losing their uniqueness so to speak.

The Subaru boys are happy with their STi and accept it, but we constantly have trolls that stir up shit, much the same as here. It's just a PITA when trolls constantly feel the need to point out something we already know.

In fact about 90% of them would tell you the EVO is a touch better. Even I know it's better.

Most would buy one if all they wanted was all out balls.

In a recent flame war we had, most of the Subaru boys defended it even myself even though I personally don't like them.

Personally the way both Subaru and Mitsubishi are going with design, I will be keeping my 03 longer.

Dude That is so ture About Evo vs Sti and HSV vs FPV, this Evo is Ganna Rock, i so can't wait to see it.

Why do all the new release cars look the same? They've all got that big rear door (small rear window) sloping down line like the VE/380/etc... And the door handles are all looking the same.. front looks like a volvo...

As previously said... they look like they all come out of the same mold.

I do remember reading that the EVO and the lancer were different. The EVO is based on a Jap spec car that is only very slightly bigger than the lancer. Perhaps this is wrong of the new model however i do remember reading this quite recently.

i dobnt have time to search for where i read it, (possible drive.com.au) as im about to head off.

Not a big fan of the nose, hopefully the evo's come out looking nice like they usually do.

I wouldn't be so sure. The STi used to be all out balls but now Subaru have gone for more sales.

I would expect them to be going for a broader market and therefore make it a bit more comfortable and this is usually at the cost of performance.

It would interesting to know if they continue to use the 4G63, as I do not know if this meets the new emission laws as of now.

It still wouldn't get me into a Lancer. The styling isn't anything impressive, in fact I think it looks quite dated.

Where the heck are people getting VE from?

"OMG get a new design Bitsashitty, looks like an XD from da 80s!"; the main feature they have in common of course being 4 wheels and glass for occupants to peer out of.

On topic, new Lancer looks quite inoffensive, I reckon the next Evo will look pretty evil with those headlights too.

oh FFS.

SO sick of people going "it looks like x".

Design has more to do with the period than outright copying. There are certain design cues for each decade, rarely will someone go against the grain, and when they do its either going to be a hit or flunk....

AU.....

Bias aside the EVO X looks like something you would create in Need For Speed Underground.

The only claim it can have to its design, is the first to come out with factory rice. The bonnet, grille and front bar ruin it all.

Design is hard to comment on, obviously its all personal.

Yeah the red one is a little ricey, but the silver pic above looks great. Its very aggressive which I like, but its not OTT.

That being said I like the red one to.

And wasn't the WRX the first one to have the scoop plus the two vents on the side of it? I remember the first evo's only had Cosworth style vents, very subtle.

mmm... it's a tad boring everytime a car is released to see people make comments like "it looks like a VE..."

It looks nothing at all like a VE, it has similar styling points but as Polyal said it goes with design cues that EVERY MANUFACTURER is using at this point in time.. it's called "STYLE"... Why cant you fellas see that? All manufacturers will go with the styling points that people like..

And for whoever said that the Evo wont be so differentiated from the base Lancer.. it's just as differentiated as the XR8 from the GT, so why complain?

You're all very quick to outline the negatives and a lot of you can't just appreciate a car for the good sides to it... It's almost as bad as some oneyed Holden supporters.

Yeah they looked GOOD though. The scoop on a WRX is functional. It directs air over the intercooler and turbo. The EVO as it is currently has a frontmount intercooler.

Subaru aren't going to be much better though. Very disappointed with both of them.

What a disappointment the production version is compared to the concept versions. The sleek DLO has been replaced by a boring design that would have been still boring to look at back in 1998. The protruding Volvo-like grill makes it look old and stodgy, and I'm starting to think that the Americans have had too much influence in the design process.

Now I know that American cars have bigger bumpers due to legislation, so I hope the European and Japanese versions are closer to the concepts when (if) they are revealed.
