Bet your A$$ it is.

The cops wont tell you nothing reguarding somthing that doesnt have anything to do with them. As they dont want to be held accountable for somthing they might have said thats not accurate.

VicRoads will be sending you a bill.

Do you have 3rd party property insurance?

It covers all the damage your car does in an accident, but your car is not covered to get fix.

So if you have this, your insurance company will pick up the tab from vic roads.

claim on your third party insurance!!!.....
i was under the impression you had no insurance at all..

most definatly make a claim... as far as i know it will cover the cost of the pole!

Third party insurance won't cover the damage done to your car, but should cover any damage that your car causes. Therefore it should cover the pole

I think you be ok with 3rd party as previously posted, it covers other involved vehicles and any property damage caused by your car but dosent cover your car. Good luck with it all mate.

Lucky you have 3rd party at least. This is when it comes in handy, even if the excess is $1k.

barthez; $15k! Ouch!

Does it only apply to signals or lights?

Stock XR6 is smaller (2.25") so take your 2.5" with you.

well i'm glad to hear you and your passenger are fine. as for the traffic light pole, this is where i come into it. i work for a concil as an electrician and we look after all the intersections in the shire. anyway when you hit this pole did the lights go out, flash amber or just work normal?

it realy depends on what damage you did as to the price. if you just bent it over abit it won't cost much at all. but if you completely leveled it like the truck trailer that came off last week did it costs alot!

but anyway, your insurance (if all legal) will cover it.

by the sounds of it, his car ripped the pole right out of the ground......
i'd say they would have gone right out

i was waiting to enter a main road once....and this magna was traveling along the road to my right.......when the lights went amber, he nailed it....he wasnt even close...

when he realised he wasnt gonna make it, he slammed on his brakes......the car skewed left...took the pole out of the ground(which then caused his car to turn on a 90 degree angle and stop dead virtually), showered my car and other cars with traffic light lens cover and other bits of plastic and glass......luckily there was no damage to my car.....but damn i was shaken!
but yesm in that instance, all the lights went right out.

Just look under the car and undo the nessescary bolts. You should be able to take it to your exhaust joint and they will be able to weld a new muffler in for you.

sorta a catch 22 or whatever they say, cause if it had a kill switch (RCD) it may trip on very minor things and cause a large accident.

well seeing as you leveled it and broke a few fittings, the price will be getting up there. but seeing as the lights didn't go out, the sparky didn't have to repair anything to get it going.
