They are being quite good about it and will fix all the damage. I just want to make sure everything gets replaced that needs to be. I don't want any follow up problems from this. The families safety depends on it.

Was thinking someone tried too rip your wheels and got spooked and left the nuts off.

Behind shot sitting on the ground makes it look better that low.

It sounds like you got away from the experience as well as expected and that's a good thing. Imagine heading down the parkway and having that happen?

I too would start a list of everything that needs to be checked and/or replaced. It could be extensive but if Ford are coming to the party you just might get everything ticked off that list.

If it makes you feel better you can park your three wheel XR8 next to my engineless XR8 at the next Show.

In all seriousness, that is extremely poor form on the Ford/the dealers behalf. I'd be taking before photos of the undercarrage so you can compare to after the repairs are made. Also don't forget to have the rear alignment rechecked by someone other than the dealer when you get it back.

Yes, just outside the church at Gowrie. Happened about 7.45am, and it got busier and busier until I was rescued. Traffic was held up a little at time as we worked out how to get the jack under it.

Damn. I know from experience what it's like for a wheel to fall off. It happened to me a couple of years ago. I had a wheel alignment but the mechanic didn't do the wheelnuts up properly. I was driving home, then felt the front right of the car drop down, and saw a turboblade crossing the road. Luckily no real damage, and the mechanic gave me a second wheel alignment, without charging me for either of them.

Thanx Marty, I'm just lucky the car made it to the show and back yesterday. If there were any events it would not have made it. Also makes me glad I didn't do the Observation run. I spent all Saturday preparing the car.

People at work mock me for checking every wheel I remove with a torque wrench, until a foreman lost a wheel that HE put on. But afew days later people stated snickering again...haha jokes on them I guess. I only get positive coments from my foreman and managers so who cares hey?

PS: I work at a Ford dealer.

Thats terrible Vic,at least Ford are doing the right thing and coming to the party for the repairs.Could have turned out a lot worse though.I think you did well to keep your cool,I would have lost it at the service guys I think.Things like that should never happen.Keep us informed on how it all turns out.

There is damage and rubber in the guard area and it pushed the rear bar out a bit, could have been worse, but I was going so slow at that point.

The guy from Ford who came along brought new wheel nuts as I only had the one damaged one left.

Thanx Dave, it definitely could have been worse. Had I kept heading to work I would have lost it doing 80 or 100 with cars all around me. Would not have been pretty.

One friend of mine got a wheel alignment at JAX. Anyway he was heading home in his land cruiser and felt the front right drop and saw his monster wheel roll thru the passenger side windscreen of a lancer, luckily no one was sitting there.

Another time, my house mate, went to JAX to get his tyres changed. They done the wheel nuts up that tight that it broke 3 of the 4 studs on his celica.

I'll say one thing about that rear shot... that's one lowa ss BA!

My car's due for a new set of tyres (er, rear ones that is). Might watch the fitter as he puts the rims back on. If anything appears to be not right, he shall be hog-tied with his air hose.

I would be hoping that the irs cradle is not bent.
I drove clean over a round about in mine, destroyed two rims and two tyres, cracked the windscreen, and if that wasn't bad enough, the repair guy told me if the cradle was bent i was stuffed because the BA1 type cradle was obsolete and the new type was slightly different.
Luckily enough it was just a lower arm and fixed.
As has been said get a follow up alignment to make sure and ask how much adjustment is left, if they can they will adjust it to the max just to get you out the door but you will know about it in 10,000ks when it cant be aligned again without replacing parts.
