thanks mate. no it dosent have a sticky feel at all because its dye, not paint! the dye is meant to absorb into the vinyl. its vinyl dye, damn i cant remember what the brand is called! well anyway its not that good on hard plastics as its got no where to absorb unlike the vinyl.
so yeh no sticky feel, just nice n smooth!!lol!
cheers

That's turned out awesome! :

I'm wanting to do the exact same thing but didn't know what to use. So you don't happen to remember the brand name? What about the colour name? Also, i've never heard of vinyl dye before so was wondering where you bought it from?

Cheers mate.

Keep up the good work!

Aww. Takes me back a few years. Door trims look identical to what i did to my EA.
Putting the door trim on a box (raising it off the ground) made it a lot easier to paint around the edges though.
I'd never undertake the task of re-trimming cloth or vinyl so all the best to you. It's a pain to cut/fold/stick etc

iv finished and fitted 3 of the trims. bloody frustrating!. firstly i coulnt work out which way the spring went into the door handle and i scratched a little bit of paint off, no more paint to touch it up! secondly i couldnt get the door trims on properly, no idea why because iv had the fronts off before. thirdly whoever designed the rear door central locking button they are a d!khead because i had no idea how to get it back on until i just ended up putting the trim on and had tilt the trim out and reach my arm out to hook it up!!
oh and now the screws arent long enough for the door handles!! did the fairmonts have longer screws with them since the door handle is out a little bit due to the insert? i might have to get some from the wreckers!!

heres some pics, the map pockets arent back on yet as i still need to re trim them!

Nah, but I don't actually get what you mean. Have you changed the door handles over to fairmont ones? Are you saying the fairmont screws are supposudly longer or shorter?

no iv still got my original door handles, their exactly the same! but because iv put the door inserts on from a fairmont the door handle sits out further. so the original screws dont reach the bit they screw into to. so im asking if the fairmonts had longer screws that reach the bits they screw into!!
know what i mean yet??!!

i see theres only 1 screw in there. hows it hold up?? iv managed to get two screws in most of the door handles except the drivers door, only 1 in there. works ok but i'll try n get some more in it!!

i went to the australian ford dismantlers (AFD) today and asked about if the fairmonts had longer screws, he came back with a few screws from a fairmont door with the inserts and they were exactly the same length as mine! he was wondering tho if the bit where the screws screw into comes out slightly.
anyone who has an EA/EB/ED fairmont would you mind taking the door handle of and taking a photo of the screw holder thingys!!lol!!PLEASE!!!!

cheers
braden

ps. iv got all the trims on now, i could take some more photos except its dark and as you can see with the other photos, its hard to see. so i'll try and take some more tomorrow!!

That was pretty much just to get a pic to show it of lol. I had two in mine but my mate when he was shutting my door riped it out plugs and all i think im gonna have to try and superglue the buggers in.

Try Universal fastners or some place like that you should be able to get something longer with the same thread, thats what im gonna try and do.

iv finally got some better shots of the doors in daylight! theres the dash also so you can see how the interior is starting to be tied in now!!
im thinking about dying me seats and the roof lining black too. might cost a bit in dye, although it'd be cheaper then getting them re trimmed!! i'll just use material dye. a while back me and my mate used material dye over a stencil of the SlipKnoT 'S' on the back of our blueys. come up good and its been through the washing machine a few hundred times and its still on there! so i dont think it'll come off on the seats!!lol!!
