The AU was a dud on and off the track in the showroom wherever it was, it was the by far the worst falcon Ford have produced.

Looked ugly, ran ugly and did nothing for Ford or the Falcon name.

T3's didnt even get 351's.
they were strokers.

the best thing the AU did was put some decent life into the V8's and further refine the OHC I6.

Actually mechanically, many people rate them higher than the BA. That's why there are still so many AU taxis getting around. Many drivers don't want to move to BA/BFs because they appear to be less reliable. So basically the AU was a brilliant car with an ugly body. Sort of like the fat ugly chick with a great personality and a heart of gold!

That is one good point I have heard is yes mechanically they are good, hence why I am umming and arring over steping upto a B series because I have heard/know of a few problems people have had with them, but I have also heard good stories.

The huge problem with the AU is that it 'bummed out' in 1998 the day it hit the showrooms that cheese cutter for a grill those wheel covers, its saggy , it was just depressing, the XR series no engine improvement over the EL's and looked like a bug eyed monster, on the track it was downright depressing :

Pfft, turn it up!
On the track? as in V8SC? the only thing they have in common is some panels, almost nothing else.
AU XR's look way better than any other one before it, (except the '67 of course)
Whatever rocks your box i guess....

Hmm, considering, as i mentioned, there is almost nothing (apart from a very basic shape) on a V8SC as the road going version..
Haha, a bit biased having an EL dont you think? Im sure in your opinion its the greatest thing on 4 wheels...
