Thats the VC retro model, all VK big bangers were Formula Blue as with the retro.

I can see why he's selling it. I think the cost is$75-77k on top of the purchase price of a new SS, that would mean its in the region of $125k, is it worth it? Would like to see them do a retro build of the VN Aero or Grp A, I think it would actually work well with the VE shape, maybe even a VK-VL Director.

I doubt they'll do the VN Grp A, it was a HSV build same as the VL Walky.
Both Tom Walkinshaw inspired vehicles.

If they stick to the race inspired products i cant see the Director making the cut.
Perhaps a Bathurst Aero model?

It's crap..

What is with all that plastic over the bonnet??? You can tell Walkinshaw and his people must have had input into this. Terrible in my eyes...

Peter Champion owns HDT as a private business. Nothing to do with HSV. AFAIK nothing to do with Holden either, but there must be something in place for warranty claims etc.

They've done an impressive job on this, looks very clean and mean. Far better than any HSV offering.

The method of the new owner first having to purchase the car before delivering to HDT for conversion is along the lines of HDT 25 years ago when dealers had their cars modified by HDT to order.

hmmmm the main thing you would need warranty on with this car would be plastic welding... :

I love it. I would have the assume however for the $77k there is more to this conversion than meets the eye i.e total body respray to match the correct blue, other driveline, suspension and brake engineering upgrades over the SS plus ADR compliance so it's actually street legal. Based on this one could easily see where the $77k is going. As for warranty I assume that HDT will warranty anything they modify i.e. body, engine, gearbox, exhaust etc

LOL GTP006!

You make a good point though, id rather spend it on a real one, atleast it will appreciate!

"IF" its $77k I agree with CDAA its value for money. Imagine how much those rims would have cost to get done, FPV cant even do that with 18's and higher volumes.

This peter bloke must have some cash behind him or Holden is helping from some angle.

I think it looks good actually.

So Ford, when are you gonna quite stuffing around and bring back a properly retro styled GTHO?

Peter Champion used to own Peter Champion mining and had the lease on Coppabella Coal mine up here in central queensland until a couple of years ago when he made a deal with Macarthur Coal rumoured to be worth a couple of hundred million dollars. So yeah not short of a quid.

I love it.

My mates got a genuine VK Brocky and this is as close as you could get a VE to looking like one. Well done I say. Looks MUCH better than the VC and VH models they have released previously.

Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd jump the fence for a sec to let you guys know a bit of info about our new VK Retro the 'Blue Meanie'.

Just for clarification, the price is $75,000 for the entry model, inclusive of the SS Commodore on which it is based. For that money you recieve:

A 350kW 6L V8
Six-speed manual transmission
Formula Blue paint work
Group A inspired body kit
19x8in Aero style wheels in either white or silver
Bilstein Suspension
HDT herringbone inspired trim (four seat leather is optional)

The car as displayed at Bathurst runs a blown 7L V8 making 608kW (815hp) at the flywheel, and 470rwkW (630rwhp). Torque is over 1000Nm.

It also has our optional four-seat leather trim, six-pot brakes and optional bonnet scoop. That car as displayed is $125,000, and yes, we've have an order for one in that spec.

There's some great pics and more info at our dedicated website www.bluemeanie.com.au.

It's great to see you Ford guys liking the concept. If we can convert one of you, our job is done!

Thanks for your interest in our car. It's going to be popping up in many of the major motoring magazines in the coming weeks and months, so keep an eye out for it.

Cheers,

Ben Nightingale
