That's why councils and national parks wildlife services destroy the buggers. As a pet they're fine, if they are looked after responsibly. Letting them roam is akin to letting your dog roam the streets, and then pleading ignorant if it attacks someone.
Another way to let the owners know that their cat is running feral is to humanely catch it, and put a message ( warning ) on it's collar, and let it trek home. Keep the council storm troopers out of it initially.

First off NEVER scare a cat off a bonnet, it'll scratch the bonnet.
Unless they have muddy paws they wont scratch the bonnet if they're just coming and going normally.

Befriend it so you can identify the owner, generally if its domesticated a bit of food or encouragement will have it within your grasp!

Then confront the owners, if its doing it at night they should be locked away, cats have a curfew in most areas, if it re offends dob the owner into the council.
If you can't find the owner or they wont act trap the cat and identify it with the council.

I love cats - and all animals - those who are cruel to animals have problems. I have 3 cats but they're never let outside, no pets should be allowed to roam at night as that's when they cause problems and kill native animals and so on..

There's a stray cat that keeps coming into our yard and sleeping at night, a lot of the day too.. It jumps up on my bonnet too, and i came up with a sollution..

i got over it and wash the car weekly.. who cares ? It hasn't scratched the bonnet so i really couldn't care less.. having said that i know there are some people who HAVE got scratches from them, and yes Mr_Sido i can see your bonnet is quite messy but it is Winter after all.. so it's going to be worse.

I guess i just can't see this as being such a big deal.. wash the car.. maybe get a car cover, or some sort of well breathing fabric that you can put on the bonnet at night.

Actually for me (&Sido etc) it is a big deal and NO I wont be going out of may way for someone elses cat. I have to put a cover on my car because the neighbours have cats??? You are joking though arent you! Yes I like animals, I have dogs, but I hate cats. They are useless as pets and should be gone. Any cat found on my property is taking its life in its hands and if those who love their cats can love them at their house, problem solved. My bonnet is ****ed because of cats! My front yard stinks because of stinking cats........IMHO. Mr_Sido.....I sympathise!!!!!!

Oh and it was mentioned to that its OK for your car to look like crap cos its winter and cat paws and scratches are OK?? Oh behave! :dr_Evil:

don't miss quote me .. I never once said it's "OK" to get scratch marks, i covered that in my text.. I said..

My comment about it being WORSE in winter is obviously there is more rain and it's hard to move the car for 5 metres without it becoming dirty. It's virtually impossible to keep your car clean during these months unless it sits in a garage and doesn't move. I've had to wash my car once a week lately, and in the photo's it's still filthy.

Of course it is an issue if the cat is actually scratching the duco, but i'm sure 'animal lovers' like yourself can deal with it maturely

I completely understand that you love your car, who on here doesn't ? I take ages taking photos of my cars and spend hours editing them and printing them out.. i have pictures of my cars all over the house, i'm insane about it, but i also accept that we're living in a world full of elements that will always work against the cleanliness of my car!

Sorry didnt mean to miss quote.....should have read better!

And yes you are correct in saying I love animals.....they taste yummy

And the problem is I do love my car more than the cat next door. In saying all this though I am glad you do keep yours inside. More people should and we wouldnt have this problem. ;)

That reminds me of that saying;

About 6 months ago I had the roller door of my garage open for most of the day while I was working in there on and off. When I went to lock it up for the night I found cat cr@p on the foor and an XT GT dash and XA console had been knocked off of a shelf (where they could NOT have fallen by themselves, and had been there for 12 months) and smashed to pieces.

I really don't have a problems with other peoples pets as long as they keep out of my yard and aern't too noisy at night. Generally speaking, cats roam around and do what they bl00dy want and annoy all the neighbours, and the owners couldn't care less. If a dog did this, it wouldn't last a day before being locked up at the pound.

Get some jack russels - my parents had two that actually killed a cat when it decided to go on their property. Which is suprising since the cat was twice the size of them. (they did not want the dogs to do this and they were asleep at the time). BTW both dogs were safely locked in the back yard.

My cats very rarely leave the property however the neighbors Chihuahua X russel sometimes comes and cr@ps in our front yard, which annoys me.
One arvo the dog came into the yard and the larger of the 2 cats charged it and gave it a fearful belting...
I had to pull her of the dog which yelped back home, since then the dog rarely comes near our place.
I detest animal cruelty or animals fighting however since no perminant injuries were done i found it rather funny

i like livin on a farm we can legally shoot "pest" animals, and usually do... but it's different in town, we always lend our cat trap, i think that is a better solution to the old panadol in the tuna trick...

Well I have had cats leave wet/muddy paw marks on my car heaps of times. Who's cat/s, who knows? Personally bird crap on the car pizzes me off more.
My dogs bark at cats coming into our place all the time. Might pizz the neighbours off a lot but its probably their cat/s coming over, so tough. At least my pets are not roaming the neighbourhood. I know some of these intruding cats and I have no issue with them, and probably because I try to coax them over when I see them in my yard and indicate my friendly intent, by giving them a srcitch on the head, I am not discouraging their frequent reappearance. In summary, stone chips, supermarket dings, bird crap and general wear and tear on the car far outweigh cat paw marks. I mean, big friggin' deal!

Simple fact of the matter is.

NO CAT SHOULD BE OUTSIDE A HOUSE WHILST NOT ON A LEASH.

Full stop, end of story. Roaming cats are EXACTLY the same as roaming dogs. Stray pests.

By no means do i advocate cruilty to animals (FAR FROM IT) but trapping and handing over to council is the 110% right thing to do.

Saying "its your responsibility to take care of your own car, garage it or put a cover over it" - absolute rubish.

Kids playing cricket in the street, they hit your car with a ball, dents it. Well you should have envisaged this and built a garage. Give me a break. In that case its the parents responsibility to ensure their kid does not cause any damage (even un intentional) to others property, and they are responsible for any damage caused. Same senario with cats and their owners.

Well I wonder what authority I can summon to voice my complaint about seagulls and other birds that crap on my car/washing on the line?
How to deal with a possum or a Koala indulging in the conveniences/refuge my property has to offer?

How many seagulls, possums, wallabies do you see on a leash?

Solution: Forget about it, relax. Live and let live.

How often do you hear of a cat maulling/biting a child?

Cars are pretty tough objects. Don't become a slave to them. A tiny bit of a scratch or muddy mark isn't the end of the world!

WARNING WARNING WARNING.

It can be very dangerous to engage with "cat people" on any subject that may suggest "cats are not the finest creatures in the universe and more important than humans".

It would be easier to get John Howard to join a gun club or Harold Scruby to drive a Targa than to convince a "cat person" that their cat is not perfect and the centre of the universe.

If you hurt their cat they would not see any problem in burning your house down, killing your family, trashing you car with a sledge hammer and then looking for compensation for the pain you caused them and their moggy.....

P.S. I wish post this WAS actually exagerated sarcasm............

Crossbow does the trick.

The ***** scratched my roof when i shood it away, i warned the owners if i catch it on my car again, i would put it down

They didnt care

The cat now lives at the tip with a crossbow bolt thru its neck.

Its karma

Delusional post.

If you can find said owner of seagulls/birds, possums, wallabies, by all means humanely capture them, ring the council and have them deal with your captured "stray DOMESTIC" animal. Until then, leave such ridiculous comments by the way side.

I have 2 indoor cats.
They will hear me open the back door to go outside to hang out the washing,
they both come running to sit on top of the washing machine so I can put a retractable lead on them so they can come outside whilst i hang out the washing. Its the only way they are allowed outside and they don't seem to mind.
