Tv is loaded with ads for the Commodore in it's various guises and for various special deals...but I can't remember the last time I saw a Falcon advert.

Bad marketing to just rely on repeat business nowadays...if you aren't in the publics face, you'll be forgotten...
Stupid too when you consider they are losing repeat business due to some people being fed up as expressed in some threads.

Some of these former true blues may also be a fleet buyer.

I watch a lot of Tv, believe me...
Haven't seen that advert...is it a nation-wide one or just a local or state specific advert?

I've seen XR6 and ute adds recently for the half yearly sales but I've seen more Holden adds. Holden sells more cars so can afford mord adds. Simple.

The half yearly head and heart ads, theres a few different ones, Ranger, XR6, Ute etc nation wide ads

IMO they need to recreate that link and emotion the original BA Falcon ad made..that song with the car driving along those beautiful NZ roads. Why not film an almost identical ad with the same song but make a point to show the improvements of the FG over the BA.. create a link between the two cars..we all know how well the BA sold.

I don't know if any of you play computer games, but things like Battlefield are advertised months before their release, a multitude of businesses do it - Apple in particular is very good at creating demand for a product prior to it's release. They will actually be out of stock by the time release hits, as their demand is overfull. They make a lot of money this way, as people are prepared to wait for the product.

Consumer goods are big business, and marketing is based around needs, wants and demands. There's a few psychological practices on customer value, but the principle is always the same. Give the customer a product that they see value in.

Ideally, to ensure the longevity of a company such as Ford, they need Full demand, not declining demand or latent demand.

Some products (read xr8) have been demarketed completely, sure there are a few customers who keep suggesting that they would buy and XR8 if Ford still made them...well, no you wouldn't. The psychology behind it all is that now it is no longer sold...this is why you want it...

At the moment, with declining demand for the Falcon being the current situation, Ford need to remarket and reverse this declining demand. The declining market, doesn't mean that Ford are doing anything wrong as such, as this happens in every business (that's why we have 'sales'). Usually, this fall in demand is brought about by competition from other businesses, and is part of any business, they all go through it.

The thing is, if the demand is falling in both Holden and Ford, the analysis into why it's falling is the crucial part. Some would say it's because fuel prices are high, some would say it's because Ford don't care about their customers, some would say it's because Ford is old hat and people are chasing newer and newer technology. Some would even say it's because 'no one' wants a big car anymore. I don't know that any of those are very accurate or that they could be considered as the only answers. There would be many more reasons than just superficial ones.

Marketers don't just look at the car that's been sold, they look at who is buying it, young man, young woman, older man, etc. and if there is a demographic that isn't represented, they need to market their product to those people, and appeal to that/those demographic/s. They make ad's more 'bouncy' for the younger demographic, a funky beat, young people driving the vehicle - if the ad for FG2 comes out with a woman driving...just watch...you might be surprised at who starts purchasing it. If the advertising starts to be more 'family oriented' for the Falcon, because lets face it, up until this point, it's mainly focused on a male demographic. They use a male to drive the vehicle, and a pretty woman in the passenger seat. Women have come a long way, and it's demographic that needs to be appealed to as well.

Let's face it, marketing ideas such as this...are long gone...1956..they used a postcard as a record..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AVZWY8T3JE

Ad's like these...are non existent anymore

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL3P1...eature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McRYc...eature=related

We see certain ad's as being irrelevant - they're not, they're just not designed to appeal to our particular demographic. When they are designed for your demographic, you'll know about it.

I don't know if any of you remember these commercials...but they served their purpose...although they only appealed to one demographic...

Looking at the bottom right part of the photo, around the front right wheel, I'm thinking there's a bit of photo chop in there as well.

If the changes for the FG2 look significant enough, then all they have to do is a quick glimpse of the new car like around the head light area but not reveal what the car is and then just have the Ford logo with coming soon. Hammer it on tv to get people talking. Just a few seconds would be cheap too.

Why?

We've got perfectly good marketing in Australia, don't really see the need for an American to come into the mix...the only down side is that our advertising has to meet very strict standards. Just needs a bit of a shake up with some creative ideas...and we're good to go...I still think they need to bring Eric Bana in to do an ad...would work a treat...
