On ADSL2+ you could download that file up to 16 times faster (i.e. a 3MB MP3 in about 1 second) So long as the server hosting the file could handle the fast download speed. I am to far from the exchange to get max speeds, so it'd take me about 3-4 seconds to download a 3MB file. Pretty slow for ADSL2+ but it'll do ;)

another adam internet user here (adsl2+). they would have to be the best value provider around. $39.95/month with a 5 gig limit.

i've downloaded 40meg in about 30-40 seconds before. as has been mentioned though it depends on the other end a lot of the time. anything off the adam or associated sites will download at around 1.2mb/s. other sites can be as low as 200kb/s

Right at this minute, 45.2kbps. Dialup.

Waiting for ADSL2 to arrive. I have ordered it through Internode. 24 000mbps with 40 GB limit. $69.95/month. Just waiting to get it confirmed and get the modem.

We are a fair way from the exchange too, ie 2km, so we wont get the full speed but anything is better than 45.2!

ADSL2 Here ...i think We're sitting on about 10Mb at the moment with 1mb up... Hardly anyone will get the full 24Mb connection... You need to be practically living in a phone exchange to get the full 24Mb of speed...I was living 500M from the Wellington St. Exchange in Perth and in the distance my connection speed slowed to 17Mb (about 1.5Mb per 100m)
Im on an Iinet Bundle Plan

adsl2+ with optus but at least 4 k's from the exchange (around 3-4 mbps)

loving 36gig for $30ish dollars a month.
just annoyed that mum and dads rental property is like 20 METERS from the exchange, they would get some serious speed

I'm supposed to be on 512, but the last week or so it's been slower than dial up. Pages stop loading half way through, I can't play City of Villains because it's taking 4days+ to d/l the update files from the game server.

If you call the Helpdesk to find out what is going on, you wait on hold for 50min+ before getting some idiot tell you there is nothing wrong, their broadband is ok, there is no fault on my line (been checked by Telstra twice) and it therefore must be my computer.

It's not my computer, and I am not the only one of their customers who is having this problem.
i've lodged a complaint with the TIO and we'll see what happens. If they don't fix it I want out of the contract.
