The 2.7 brings the peak torque earlier in the rev range than the 5.0 (2,750rpm vs 4,500rpm). The 2.7 has a compacted graphite iron block for durability and is rated to tow 8,500 lbs in the F150. I think it will offer a great balance of low cost, high performance, light weight, and good fuel economy.

I've seen a few highway towing fuel economy tests with F150 5.0 vs the 2.7 EB and the V8 uses less fuel.
It's also the reason why the 7.3 works so well in the Super Duty versus using an Ecoboost engine.g

10.3:1 compression ratio for the 2.7, 12:1 for the 5.0 so the towing fuel economy doesn’t surprise me, with no boost. Especially at altitude, where TFL tester them), where the naturally aspirated engine will run lean with a lower density. I think the 2.7 will be a lot of fun in the Bronco though. With the success Ford has had with taking the Mustang global, I can't understand why they have decided to make both Bronco and Bronco Sport for the US market only.

An iconic, well recognized name with great design, this could have been a good way for Ford to extend their reach in markets outside the US. How many people were drawn to Ford showrooms because of the Mustang that would otherwise never considered a Ford? The same thing could have played out with Bronco. Instead, we get the invisible Escape and the huge Everest.

Back a page, it was mentioned that EB V6 is more popular in F150 than the V8 Coyote,
I think that there's a place for both but yes, in Bronco a 2.7 or 3.0 EB is one tough package.
Also, it makes adding something like the 3.0 V6 diesel much easier.......

Not many people would say no to a 5.0 Bronco though......

I know someone who works at Michigan AP, Ford took 12weeks reservations in four days
and he's thinking they will be doing lots of Super Saturdays next year, lots of OT.

there are real engineering reasons why no RHD. There is also a LHD for China so while it is not global, it's not quite true to say US only.

Panhard Rod has better low speed articulation when crawling over rocks,
the watts linkage is a much better performer at higher speeds/cornering.

2005-2014 Mustang springs to mind, some earlier Explorers with leaf springs had one as well.

In Q2 financial report, Ford mentioned at least 150,000 reservations with North America chief
expecting Ford to sell hundreds of thousands per year and looking to increase production plans.

While the Americans probably wouldn't entertain building RHD production line versions,
right across the railroad tracks is the old Wayne assembly plant that's currently being
converted to a big mod centre, I wonder if there's an opportunity for Ford to do in-house
RHD conversions that would not disrupt the production line and also give Ford all of the
extra income from conversions before vehicles are exported.

It's a long shot I know but it might be a way to get limited supply and see how things go.

Getting it right was well worth the effort. So far, the Bronco and Bronco Sport have received accolades from many circles – from the press and off-road enthusiasts, to Ford owners and future customers – who have clamored to the Bronco website to reserve the next big thing in off-road vehicles.

The word so far was perhaps lots of Super Saturdays to help getting so many orders out.

I can't believe that GM made the Blazer a unitary soft roader, woulda been perfect name
to relaunch the mid-sized Hummer H2 as GMC Blazer.


Just on no RHD Bronco, maybe Ford has something really good planned for Everest,
a similar body to Bronco or even new Defender but with equipment and features that
are more in keeping with our market expectations.

What a way to ruin an iconic nameplate.

Apparently the new Everest looks insane. They are expecting big things with the new styling direction for it.

I know, that's why I've been "baiting" certain folks recently regarding the current style,
a lot of the criticisms levelled at Ranger and Everest are being answered big time and
it sounds like Ford has finally found its teeth...

Again, how does Ram compete with that, they can't while Ford holds court.

I'm sure that execs at Jeep and Ram will be sweating bullets waiting for Ford's responses
to their vehicles, I have a hunch that Ford's powertrain a will be the difference that matters.

I did find Jeeps point about the Wrangler being better, because it's been in production for so long, rather amusing. It also explains why the Wrangler is such a POS to drive, cause it has had no competition for so long. They really didn't need to do much to it for it to sell. But it has left them poorly placed now cause they just did a new one, and it's miles behind now. It's good off-road, but terrible on road. Wanders around like it's driving through a gale, when there is no wind. Awful road manners. The Bronco is as good, if not better off road (more ground clearance, bigger tyres, better wheel travel) as well as being miles better on road. It actually drives in a straight line on a bumpy road.

Then they also try to say it's better because they have a concept Wrangler with a V8, that hasn't even been confirmed for production

It's not the 1970's any more. It is cool that they put V8's in a lot of things, but things have moved on and the majority have moved past that now. How many V8 Wranglers would they expect to even sell? 2 fifths of f all really. It's a niche, within a niche, within a niche.

Jim Farley is a car guy, so I expect it will take him some time but I wonder if he'll take a few more
"Good Risks" on value adding products that cash in on all the positive atmosphere around Bronco

I'd love to see Ford have a crack at Defender using NG T6, it's near on Explorer size but might be
one of those global products that work equally well in the US. Something that makes Jeep wig out.

The press release about the history of the Jeep is rather amusing when you consider Ford had elements of it own design in the Willys MB...and both companies heavily relied on the orginal Bantam design.
