Well I'm off very soon to watch the game in the City with the Adelaide Cats supporter group. If they win I'l be rolling back up the hill at 4 in the mornng. If they lose I'll be doing the same, albeit a little bit more pi$$ed (off).

GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!

we have a crap load of road closures here in geelong

3 or 4 if geelong win

and then again on wed if they win for a street parade

as i have said i am not a geelong supporter but i do think Geelong played with the dogs

i think it will be a Geelong win by 40+ points and done easy

Cats 97 - Hawks 81

A shootout given the weather...just as long as the Umps don't try to star too much.

Definitely the 2 teams that should've been there today.

I'm watching the game, and as a Union supporting New South Welshman, this isn't all that bad. I've put some on VFL in the past, but Geelong are all over this. It's opening up for them now.

Why isn't this an 8 PM game tonight? The shadows are terrible for Television.

i wouldn't say geelong are all over it at all.

hawthorn lead at half time! geelong should but mooney found a way to miss from point blank. harley is on jelly legs and for all their time in possession geelong are down.

terrific effort by hawthorn and if they can maintain this intensity they will go a long way to winning. mitchell, buddy and roughhead have barely touched it so there is a lot of room for improvement. conversely, geelongs stars are all firing so in a way thats good news for hawthorn knowing that geelong haven't got a lot of improvement left.

i'm no port supporter but was always a fan of stewey dew and he's having a pretty good game as is guerra.

credit where credit's due. hawthorn are doing an awesome job and grabbing their chance with both hands at the moment. can they hold on. 30 points is not a huge margin these days with the good sides.

Eamon is at a pub in North Adelaide watching it with a bunch of other Geelong supporters... Not really looking forward to going to pick him up really...

hawthorn deserve their success - there is no doubt about that. they went out there to play

the signs were there from the anthem, when hawthron stood arm in arm and geelong stood arms by their sides. one side seemed to be there for each other, maybe not the other

from around 3-4 minutes when hawthorn's nerves were over, geelong looked pretty ordinary. they dropped the ball, missed targets and couldn't kick a goal from 15 metres - all with virtually no pressure

in the 2nd 1/4 there were times when it looked like geelong were going to blow the game wide open but they just couldn't put it on the scoreboard. the more that happens the more the pressure builds. mooney well and truly had the yips.

the beauty of it, as with port, they beat the best to win their flag. makes it just that bit better. wouldn't have felt the same if geelong got knocked out early and they won against bulldogs. still great but beating the best is the way to do it.

luke hodge - you are a star!!

Well done to the Hawks, a well deserved win. Lots of rough and tumble. It was entertaining and it looked like survival of the fittest.

Seeing shane Crawford in tears of joy was an excellent highlight.

They were the best on the day, and just pressured the Cats. Great footy. Great hunger.

What a sensational game. As someone who has a real passion of hatred for the cats, nothing pleased me more than seeing this result. The icing on the cake was when Ablett cried. Top stuff. I was pleased to see Crawford get that flag. After 17 years, well done to the Hawks and to Crawford. Good players deserve the ultimate. I just wished that players like Buckley and Harvey also had their grandfinal successes. But not to be.

poor form by ch7, not waiting for the club song. surely it wouldn't matter too much if they went over the time slot by a couple of minutes. doesn't really bother me as i'm not a supporter but i'm sure there would be supperters watching that would've liked to hear them belt out the club song.

Just got home from centre square, and what can i say but suck on that geelong! god its so sweet to shut geelong up after they were so cocky about "running over hawthorn easily" as well as all the omg hawks will only win if it rains.. or only if buddy kicks a big haul ha ha couldn't be more wrong. So happy for crawf and the best game of footy Ive ever been too.

Were a happy team at Hawthorn....

Geelongs forward line cost them the game, some of the misses were just pathetic. Mooney misses from bang in front 20 out, Ottens running into an empty goal and missing for example. Then they kept missing shot after shot after shot. Most of the forwards went missing after half time and rarely even touched the ball. If you can't put it through the sticks then you can't win, simple as that. :
