Not bad. GTS did 12.2 as well. Much more impressive. Nevermind that they did identical times. GTS is a monster.

Holy COW. .02 quicker than a GT. Imagine if they put octane booster in it.

It would go slightly quicker again im guessing. Probably quicker again if it was running aftermarket tyres like the vid of that GT doing a 12.2x

haha, it wouldn't matter if the GTS ran an 11.99, the haters will still hate and claim it's only marginally quicker than the GT which is 30-40k less blah blah... Facts are facts though, the GTS is starting to prove its worth as the fastest most powerful aussie car. Regardless of the extra money you need to purchase it, HSV didn't claim it was the cheapest most powerful.
In all honesty, who cares if it's faster or more powerful. I'm happy with my purchase, and i'm sure it will be fast enough for me. With the 40k i saved, i can buy another property, or have some fun with mods. But i can still see the value in a factory warranted car like the GTS. If i want to intercool mine, put bigger brakes on with wider tyres/wheels and a tune i lose my warranty and it'll cost me nearly 15k... So i can see why the GTS appeals to people, as you get all that from factory. |

Yes we get it. The GTS beat a 4 cyl, just. Anyone would think this is a commodore forum.
Anyways, the GTS could pull an 11.99 and I would still not be impressed. For the 1.2l larger capacity and all the tech (not to mention the v8 supercar brakes), and the price tag, it's not significantly quicker. Up against a $200k+ AMG, yes, to some the GTS is impressive. But I'm not impressed. The GT raised the bar against the performance euros a couple years ago, so did the F6. $70-80k cars. They were pulling similar times to the GTS. But everyone has forgotten that. Btw why are the journos not lining uo the R spec against the AMG and GTS in these conditions? The only test they have done was in the rain FFS! Everyone is against FPV, it's blatantly obvious.

But whats your point..??? Do you want to see a "another" journo's review of how the GTS is qicker than the R Spec, & the AMG. And your point about having v8 supercar brakes is what....Holden not cutting corners ,& giving a track focused car the ability to stop properly and safely??? Mannnn...some people just have to whinge... |

I want to see a fair 1/4 mile race between the GTS and the R Spec. There hasn't been one yet.

I foresee a lot of comparisons between GTS and GT down the quarter, but am tipping some very vocal people will pay little attention to comparisons between the two around a circuit. |

Would be quite stupid to come on here with that attitude, although, im sure some have..... What i am is a person that appreciates cars of "all" varieties. Im not blinded by a badge, when in this day and age, most manfacturers offer great vehicles at reasonable prices, with great performance & luxury options. Maybe you should recognise that fact. Sorry if thats hard for you to comprehend.... |

Lol, funny thread!
You do realise that the intention of brakes and a steering wheel is to allow the GTS to slow down and corner don't you. If HSV wanted to build a straight line weapon they would have built a funny car...lol I've said it once, i'll say it again, 5 laps of Bathurst will sort the wheat from the chaff. You know, some Ford fans really are brittle. GTHO gets beaten by 6pack charger on 1/4m, yeah, but its the fastest four door sedan in the world and it won a circuit race at Bathurst. Winning Bathurst is king in '71 SC GT gets smashed on a circuit track by GTS, yeah but the GT is just as quick over a 1/4m and costs less. Budget 1/4m racers are king in '13 Its all good though, when Falcon is gone, you can compare Fiesta and GTS on an icy rally track in bloody Switzerland. Create a niche market, and no one can beat you. |

Some of the GTS haters sound like typical Holden Chev badge wielding supporters, that can't respect a decent package when they see one. Similar to when the F6 came out it smashed the Commodores but "oh but it has a turbo, my SV6 would smash it if it had a turbo too" or "they need a turbo to catch up to us!"
The GTS is a good bit of kit, I respect that. I'd still buy a GT though. |

Well I've run out of popcorn watching the show so i'll just say this,
People seem to have forgotten that HSV are running nice wide 20 inch rims and arguably the most expensive / softest / stickiest tyres you can possibly buy whereas over in the blue corner we have FPV with their 245 section very average quality Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres, getting very similar performance numbers down the strip. I would have thought its a given that FPV's numbers would improve with wider and substaintially better quality rubber...but this simple reality seems too hard for some to want to understand... Without any doubt and by any objective unemotional analysis both brands have their own merits...now can you please wait five minutes before the show starts again so I can replenish my popcorn supply Last edited by Rodge; 09-10-2013 at 01:16 PM. |

Common, you're not supposed to all agree with me, my popcorn's getting cold, get on with the show, opps forgot to mention above that the HSV has the latest trick, high tech super wizz bang launch control system to assist its times too and probably has a button somewhere to make its own popcorn too
