connecting speakers in AU1

I previously posted this question in the audio section but no replies yet so I thought that I would post it here,you guys never fail me!
I am in the process of wiring my pioneer h/u 50wx4 to a rampage 300w 2 channel amp with a Ford premium sub in the shelf using the 4 stock speakers in my AU
From what I understand you run the rear speakers off the h/u and run the front off the amp,now what I want to know is can I run all 4 off my h/u and 2 more aftermarkets off the amp with the sub making 6 speakers?

dunno where you heard about running the rears off the head unit and the fronts off the amp....i just run all 4 off the head unit...yes you can run 3 extra speakers off the amp as well as a sub, but you will need a low pass filter and 2 high pass filters to run 2 speakers and a bridged sub...i think it says something about it in the instruction manual...it's basically so the sub plays only low frequency notes and the speakers play only high frequency

actually, it is a known system setup that most specialist places do at the moment, and to be quite honest, most wil sugest not to have any rears at all. But this is usually only if you are running a bigger sub. The rears speakers are only there for fill, and if you really car, rear seat passangers. I think 3 pairs of speakers is a bit of overkill unless you are going to run splits in the front and count the tweeters and woofers seperate.
Honestly, i would recomend to invest in a quality set of splits at the front and a decent sub all running off an amp, and just keep the stock rears off the head unit. This is what i have done and i couldnt be happier! Just my 2 cents though.

How many speaker outputs do you have?Look at the wiring diagram.

I run the rears off the H/U and replaced the tweeters & door speakers with better ones. Run them and the sub off the amp. Works a treat and not too much fuss wiring it up. Only problem I had was getting rid of the noise introduced by the fuel pump.

No point at all running the new headunit and amp through factory speakers. H/U output is around 50w x 4. Factory speakers are rated at under 15w. So at any decent volume, all you will get is massive distortion, and if you keeping pumping the volume, you will just blow the speakers.

My advice would be to go and get some decent 6" splits, or 6" 2 or 3 ways, or 5x7s. Then connect the fronts through the amp, the sub off the amp, and the rears off the H/U (Classics's advice is spot on).

Yep Classic is right, i have a 4 channel amp running all four speakers but only because I can.

Then the sub and sub amp on top of that...

You as a driver should only be able to hear the front speakers anyway... so you want these amped because amped speakers make a HUGEEEE difference (amped as in not running off the headunit internal amp... that = distortion max)

Edit: and yes 6 inch splits up front are perfect, mine sound soooo crystal clear ahhhh i love driving :|

actually the H/U is not 50w x4 that is rated in max watts which means stuff all. if you look at the true output (RMS) you will find that the H/U actually only pumps out around 18wrms X4, which will suit your factory speakers (power wise) fine. but if you want some decent queality then yes i would definately would replace the front speakers

Oh yes as above 6" splits are the way to go
You can mount the woofer in the door if you cut up a piece of MDF to suit
And the tweeters in the A-Pillar

lol, people agree with me!! :hihi: Nah, i only know this because i have been researching (fantasising over!) stereo systems for years until i finally had the money to get a proper setup. I have been given this advice by most car audio specialists i have spoken to, and it turned out to be very true. There is no need to go over board to have great sound. One amp, splits, sub, a quality head unit and rear fill is all you need.
