That intake pipe would suck (in the bad way).

The pipe is smooth on the inside if I need to make it bigger it could be easly done for a bigger bend.

I had the same pipe, got it from purple pig industries, and it ended up cracking everywhere.

nice setup there, are you gonna put one of those intake pipes on that are ceramic coated (I think they are ceramic coated), but anyway it doesnt make the air coming in warm by the time it reaches the inlet manifold

Is that flexi-pipe what your using for your intake pipe ? or is it a temp. thing?

reason why I ask, is if your after more flow, having flexi-pipe (with the ripples on the inside of the pipe) will cause less air flow (due to the extra turbulance caused by the ripples). You can get a mandrel bent 3" pipe made up for around $100 from many exhaust shops (who have a mandrel bender). Should ask around, prolly even get a better price than that.

Put it this way....

Do you think Ford would spend millions of dollars for engineers to design an intake pipe (and all the rest), if they could find a piece of hose laying in their shed and chuck it on that produces the same results?

They're shaped and made for a purpose.

I got mine custom made for $120. And dyno'ed with and without it, and got a significant improvement.

Runs 19 and 20 were done within 5 minutes of each other, with the only change being the intake pipe, from a stock EL pipe, to the one seen in the picture. a 3" mandrel bent pipe utilising the EL 'elbow'. For both runs, a K&N panel filter was used, an an AU3 XR8 snorkel. The picture above is later, when I got a SS Inductions snorkel (and new engine :().

Yeah but car companies, in this case Ford, might spend millions of dollars but it's not so that performance is at its peak! Its a well known fact that exhausts and air intakes are not designed to perform at their peak out of the factory. The exhaust and air intake have been designed to be restrictive as to reduce noise and pollution. He has definately improved the air flow, not all of us can build in-air box pod filters. A pod filter will always give better throttle response compared to a standard air intake!

SS inductions stuff is easy to get a hold of, I got mine off eBay.

My EL was highly modified, RPD cam, Crane ignition, extractors, EEC mods (6250RPM limiter for one ).

But alas that engine destroyed itself, and the EL's got a stock XR engine in it at the moment.
