Default My New EF. Custom Green.

Hi fellas,(and the occasional fem around here),

Some of you know i was interested in the custom green EF which was for sale in Shepparton VIC. I was keen to get as many details over the net, and basically took the risk and drove down to purchase it. Well i am one happy fella.

Now since i live in brissy, i had to get down there to get it. With the grand finals, a flight was impossible, so it was up to my $80 nissan Bluebird to get me and my mate down there. Well luckily i took a spare set of points as it broke down about 300kms short of shepparton, but a quick diagnosis of no spark and changing of the key components got us back on the road again. Looked at the car a little later and bought it then and there.

Decided to take the car for a test drive, so went to melbourne and dropped dans manifold off in bayswater. Then decided to drive through the night and get here home. Not a glitch at all, and got 820km to a tank of premium.(surprising)...

So now shes home(above pic), and here is the interior.

Now i dont like the blue, although the white is a little appealing. Anyone want to suggest some colours/schemes which would look good?

The engine is stock, with a redback exhaust. I found out on the way home that the diff ratio is different to stock, as the speedo read 110, when i was doing 104(hume speed check). calculating 110/104 * 3.08 led me to believe it had a 3.23, which i later confirmed. It has a tickford rocker cover, but thats about it.

Ive got heaps of money to spend, and here is the planned mods.

Put my AU motor in
Chip Torque Tuned hp4 chip
Sure cam/Dev 5
ported/shaved head
3.9 diff gears/lsd/lokka?
Custom Air Intake
Either my mandrel 3 inch? or the redback 2.5? with my 3 inch hi flow cat?
Custom Air Intake

The idle is a little lumpy, its my first manual falc, does anyone else have any issues with the idle? Other than that, she goes really good up top.

Will also be selling my other EF so more $$$ So look foreward to some updates :nutsycuck :nutsycuck

Well done mate, looks like a great purchase. Is there anything wrong with the interior, rips, tears etc?

just a few little scratches/peeling of the paint. It needs a clear coat or two, so that it doesnt get so easily diry or scratched. I am not sure however, what paint to use.

Thats awesome. Nice buy. Not a fan of the blue either there, but id start by at least completing the custom interior by burning those seat covers, and getting proper trimmed seats. Will look much better IMO. Other than that. I think it looks great.

It looks rather sweet on the outside, but I'd return the inside to normal, too bright for me. That fuel economy is unbelievable! You are lucky!

Can you tell if it was turbo'd at some point. e.g. wholes for the intercooler piping. I remember seeing a car very much like that for sale a while ago but with turbo.

What did you do with the Bluebird once you got there? Did your mate have to drive it back or did you just ditch it?

Nice car by the way.

Great looking car!

Canberra Raiders colours?

If it is then get the paint job copyrighted, keep the blue and you might get a few Raiders cheerleaders draped over it for a photo shoot.

every manual falcon i6 i've driven had a poxy idle.
all except the 91' XF ute (carb).

I've changed heaps and had no luck with the tiny wobble.
goes great tho... missus can't feel the wobble but it shits me!

Yeh krytox. I was thinking maybe its been converted to manual but still has the auto ecu. Will go have a look. It doesnt really bother me, just wanted to see if its normal(ish).

Kenaz, left the bluebird at a mates house.

wow i like it a lot! looks insane! i dont mind the interior either, well...except for the seat covers!lol! id love to know what paint the guy used for the interior, id say it'd proberly be VHT vinyl dye. normally clear coats makes things glossy so i havent used clear for my interior, it does scratch pretty easy tho which drives me nuts!

the paint is called pine flip... its an off the shelf colour

Good pick up for the price though... it was impossible to sell that car here in shepp after the dodge turbo setup but with your AU motor it should be good...
congrats, hope it serves you well

The exterior is actually quite good. Just a few little blemishes on the rear bar. But about 2L of the paint was provided so should make an easy job for the panel beater.

Not stealing your thread at all but I to purchased BOOSTMYEF's EA Falcon that was on sale a few months ago (pink pearl paint) and I hate to say that if I had to buy a car interstate again (I'm in NSW) that there would be no way I would do it for the lack of time it takes to inspect the vehichle and to transport the car (worked out to be $500 to NSW from VIC and $300 in airfares and taxi fare to see tha car and fly back).

I thought the car was perfect until I saw the car and then realised it had issues. Some stuff included :

*Tail lights came on when you turned ignition key and wouldn't go off
*No brake lights
*No horn
*Bolts missing from the lights so you could move them very easily (rattled when you drove it)
*Burned accelerator cable
*No door locks (EA Rods for EB Buttons which just fall off)
*Alarm didn't work properly which I have removed.

I was told a few other things which was crap such as one fan was controlled by temperature (has twin EF fans) and hence why only one worked. It never came on only because it was secured properly in the power socket which I was thankful for that it worked.

Paint was the other thing. Paint job is okay but not great. I can scrape paint off the engine bay with my thumb nail in some parts so you have to be careful not to rub it the wrong way literally. If ever your inspecting a car with a paint job I strongly encourage you do this test!

Car was unregistered when I purchased it and wouldn't have been able to be registered the way it was. Still was cheaper to buy it then do up a car myself but if I wasn't as strapped for cash and time I would probably have done up a car as you know the mod's that you do which I think is important! I'm committed now to it and will see it through for a few years.

This is my last car venture however and will be going to boring sedans afterwards. Spent and wasted far to much time fixing little stuff. Time is precious.

Next stop is to the auto electrician to get some faults fixed out. After that hopefully it is smooth sailing.

Really glad your purchase worked out and that it drives and operates well!
