Question Temp Gauge Concerns

AU3 when going up a hill the temo gauge rises as far as L. When I hit the straight black top again it goes back down to O which is where it sits during normal driving conditions.

This has been happening a lot over the past few months (only ever up a hill or grade though)

My mechanic said that his AU2 XR6 does the same thing and it's nothing to worry about.

Anyone else experience this sort of thing?

Only ever had this when towing 1600kg behind me. Never with just the family in the car. I would get your cooling system pressure checked.

The fans do nothing above a certain speed (40 kmh?) a fan problem will show at low speeds or staionary and disappear when moving again

I have a similar sort of thing, except mine goes to before N, then goes back to O, and stays the same throughout the trip.

I've dismissed it so far, because it doesn't do this all the time.
