Default North Sea Oil; a Tale of Two Countries

An article in The Guardian...Dude!, Where's My North Sea Oil Money is worth a read....(can someone provide the link for this backward old man?)

Imagine it was Australia's mineral wealth, makes you think if we truly are a 'sovereign' country.

Shows what a government can do with foresight and vision, and not just focussing on saving their hides for the next election. Australian politics is too focussed on the next election and not what is best for the country. No wonder things are turning so pear shaped.

Imagine if this country squirreled away funds from our mineral wealth, and had done for some time. I wonder how things would be....

Many Norwegians claim the government squirrels away too much of their money as they have hospitals, roads etc being neglected.
Their fund is pretty rich though, and they are the wealthiest country per capita in the world.

Norway is the worlds largest producer of oil and gas outside of the Middle East. Population just over 5 million. Why would anyone be surprised that they're cashed up?

My bad. On a per capita basis they're the worlds largest producer of oil outside of the Middle East.

Clive Palmer actually wanted to buy a hospital that the governemnt was going to close in Queensland and keep it as a public hospital but the Queensland governemnt refused. Clive Palmer actually tried to use his wealth for some good in Queensland just like he has done in the north west of WA investing in Aboriginal education and health programmes, something the ABC and other media hate to report.
