“Scratch Guard Coat” is effective for about three years."

“Scratch Guard Coat” will be applied for the first time on an SUV model that is scheduled for a partial makeover in the near future. The paint will be applied to the car’s chassis, bumpers, door mirrors, among other parts."

Almost freaky if it works as good as the pics show.
All car manufactures will be into this technology.
The insurance company's will love it, Panel Beaters will hate it.....

Those pic's are not fake (end sarcasm) Just because the sun and shadows are in the exact same spot a week later.

I wonder if it really works?

And the car hasn't moved, due to the pebbles on the ground.... I think they got there before and after shots mixed up...

Regardless of the pics, it shall be interesting to see if this takes off massively or if it is more of a fad... Only time shall tell...

The photos look chopped. To have the shadows in the same spot. The reflections in the same spot, the pebbles in the same spot. Just pushes it hard.

I wonder how long the paint takes to repair itself. Maybe they have developed the paint but used a chopp to prove it.

I hate to say it but this is a fake press release! check out the page info and source!!!!, PLUS!!
1. The fact that EVERYTHING in the photo before and one week after is the same!
2. And the "paint protection" would have to be in a "tacky" liquid state for it to move into the scratches OR have a VERY low melting point like wax! to turn into a liquid.

You must be smoking some good stuff there shane, The press release looks 100% real to me, you can even find the link to the news from the main page.

In the release it states it is a high elastic resin. And the definition of elastic is something that can be deformed and return to its original state with no distortion.

Lets put a different spin on the image opinions....
An experiment that is carried out in controlled circumstances holds more weight/merit than one that was carried out in different locations. This particular experiment proves that the scratches dissappear in the "EXACT" situation.
Now if the photos were in different locations it would raise a whole new set of opinions on the test, and it would be put down just as this one has.

Its not that hard to take a photo the same like that. just set up a tripod, take a photo, note the time, leave equipment.... return a few days later, repeat process at the same time.

I'd say the sun would not give off the exact same shine a week later, it would be in a slightly different position at least.

This is linked from the main nissan-global site.

While i think the image is fake, the product could work.

No this technology is real, audi have been working on something similar but havent put it into production yet, so dont think its bs, its the real deal, chemical bonding in the paint lets it repair itself.

Well if it's true, I hope you don't have to buy a Nissan to own it.
