My car tells me that the battery is running low in the remote. What it doesn't do is tell me how to do it or does it for me. I was impressed that it actually knew the battery was running flat.
I've looked at the key fob and can't workout how to open it to replace the battery. I can get the back off to expose the key inside, but where is the battery. Anyone got any idea's? Thanks |

What kind of fob is it that you have? Maybe a little info about your particular car may help us out. Have you checked out your owners manual for some tips?
It is great that it gives you a warning so you aren't left with a flat key suddenly one day. |

It's a MA Mondeo XR5. It is one of those keyless units. I've misplaced the manual. Last I saw it was when I was cleaning out the car. Think I put it somewhere safe. So safe, I can't find it ![]() |

Have a look at Talkford.com someone there will be able to help you out. The number of XR5 forum members are not as vocal as they used to be.

I think you stick a small screwdriver in the cutout bit and twist to pry it apart

Thanks guys for your help. Not had any luck. Found the manual, but has instructions only for the flick key. I have a keyless fob. Think I'll take a walk over to ford on Monday and get them to sort it out.

Hopefully this will help you out, it looks like you need to get in there and pry the two halves apart.

Once again thanks for your help talkativebanana and Dallas. Followed the instructions, simple in the end. I had a spare battery as it's the same as one on a computer. I used a sunglasses screwdriver and did the job perfectly. Once again thanks for your help.

Oh great! Glad that it helped. Good to know it's a relatively easy process for when I need to do it in the future.
