Hey, thinking of doing my boot, just want to see some pics of yours for some ideas. Here's a pic of my boot as it is, it sounds good but dosn't look to flash.

Here is mine it's simple but it allows me to have easy access to my spare wheel and it's secure so it wont go flying if i slam on the brakes.

If you look at the floor in the au boot you will notice that there is a lower rim that runs around the edges of the boot i made a mdf false floor that fits in there tight. Then i covered it is felt and screwed the subs and the amp to the mdf

I don't think what i said above really makes any sense i have made a bit of a diagram of what i have done. If you want any more info pm me and i will take some me detailed photo's

Heres mine. Its not custom, but it is blue. Has the visual impact going and it sounds good.

We designed my boot to make it practical but still loud enough to feel it. This way i can fold down the seats and fit longer items in (such as the AFD with the poles and witches hats

I don't know where to get the skirts and lips, they wer on the car whe I got it. I don't know why you would be interested as they look like cheap crap.

all will be replaced next year

Its all custom fibre glass mate, and a hell of a lot of it. The subs weigh a fair bit and with them on an angle and the subs turned up it causes a lot of vibration. So we had to reinforce the glass with wood struts and extra glass.

It wasnt exactly a hard job, but it took a lot of time to get right (im picky).

Its is fairly easy to remove. We just made some brackets up that are stuck to the body then we just skrew the box on at these points. I was very happy with the job as the skrews are next to impossible to see where they are.

I will have a chat to my mate who did most of the work and see if hes up for making another. How much money are you willing to spend?

As the whole setup was done for around $1800 at mates rates whch was mainly materials ($5000 if we added the hours spent making it). This includes the amp rack and wiring and full install of all the equipment i already had. I could get it done for a similar price again if required.

Im not sure if you want more pics but here are a few more to give an idea of what it looks like.

These are some pics when it was being installed. It looks dodgey in these as its not finished but there the only pics i have that are this close.

Here is a picture of the car filled with bits and pieces for a drag meet. As you can see these was plenty of room..

In the search for looks I think people are starting to depart from practicality. Why would you want the projection of the subwoofer into the guard?Also while explodes install is very neat and looks really nice I think quality sound belongs in the drivers/passengers compartment. As far as subbies go well sometime they cant fit anywhere else but the boot so fair enough.

useless, no one wants the projection of the subs into the gaurds, crazy-au's is projected away from his gaurd. Anyway all I'd be interested in buying is the fibreglass enclosure as I'm not all that great with the shit. I can box in the rest of my boot and carpet it myself, so work out with your mate how much you'd want to charge just for the enclosure.

The speakers only come on when the boot is open, when it is open they go alright for what they are...

Iv actually done a bit more work since that photo was taken, will get some pics of that soon.

I am in the market for a custom boot install, something that is better then my crappy JBL 12", but something that is practical. You found the "happy medium", i love it

Some Nice Boot Installs here.

But, can anyone advise the difference of a forward face sub to a rear facing sub?

IMO the forward facing sub is the way to go, if you don't want the boot to rattle that is. Mine doesn't move and the bass is awesome, as it is all firing into the cabin. I think the rear facing can be a little deeper, but i would guess needs a lot more work to keep vibrations down and more power too. Here is what mine looks like inside:
