Default Ohhhh thats it...

Ok after telling Xrated that he should tough it out I think Im going to crack it....

Car was running fine, even on Australia day when it was boiling. But just as I was driving today my car started to stall.

For the first time my oil pressure was not holding at all. Everything is fine when I accelerate/decellerate (rolling) but as soon as it tries to idle its either near stalling or stalls and the oil pressure is at the second mark, not in the middle like usual.

Any ideas? If this is not an easish fix then this baby is so gone...there is only so much I can take which is a shame because this is the first major issue so far.

I haven't started the car up yet...ill give it a rest and try again later today

So any reasons why the oil pressure might drop while I have 0% throttle??

Thanks guys.

oh I should probably add that about 4 months ago we changed the vavle stem seals. but I didn't get around to changed the oil and the oil filter, and its a bit over its service date so could that be the issue?

I wouldn't think that just the filter being old could do that though....

once my cars up at warmer operating temps, the idle drops to the '2' mark on the guage at idle.
has been for quite some time too.

I found as the day gets hotter, the oil pressure lowers slightly. Driving back from Traralgon in 43 degree heat, the oil pressure was dropping to the first yellow mark at traffic lights, then driving on a cool night the next day, oil presuure was back to how it was. Got me stumped.

Hotter weather = thinner oil = lower oil pressure perhaps?

Get slightly thicker oil, only thing i can think of.

Maybe you should just do an oil change.

Hi there,

Have you ruled out other possibilities like head gasket etc??
