Car broken into........again..

Parked my car in the convention centre car park(brisbane) on saturday night and thieves broke into it, again, this is the 4th time it has been broken into in 3 yrs, normally i wouldnt worry too much as i dont leave anything in it of any value they are ussually just looking for loose change but its ****ed me off this time as its getting tiresome coming back to my car to find my stuff thrown around everywhere.

It looks like they have stuck something in the lock and just turned it, so now i have to replace the lock, but obviously they will do it again as has happened before, so does anyone know of a aftermarket lock that i can use in a falcon(el) that wont be so easy to break? a web site would be good as auto stores like to rip ya off a bit too much.

EL? If you can, replace the drivers door handle with a rear one and rely on your central locking.

Solex locks can be gotten around pretty easily, but I guess the kinds of people that do this normally aren't skillful.
I'd go either solex locks, you could as someone's said replace the front handles with rear ones (no locks showing), then I'd suggest a dual battery set-up in case one battery goes and central locking doesn't work.

You could completely shave the handles off too if that doesn't work and once again rely on central locking. (I've had some bugger take off the handles on my old car when I took out the locks to try and activate the locking mechanism with needle nose pliers)

An alarm would be good, maybe one which pages you when it goes off, at least then you could find the b*stard that does it and let him know how much you appreciate it with a heavy blunt object.

get the one that you can disable the car from your phone...
i think you can get one that locks and shuts off once you know it has been broken into...
or at the very least go some door poppers or something...

yeah these ones arent particularly skillful i think they are junkies just looking for a few bucks(which they got) thats why i thought of changing the locks as i dont know whether they would want to draw attention to themselves by smashing a window.

I dont really want to change the door handle as my remote is a bit dicky and i have had to use the key numerous times...pos falcon..

Get the door locks welded up and put an alarm with central locking stopped people from trying to get into my PV

Leave it unlocked with a note saying "there is nothing worth taking in this car, but feel free to have a look, it is unlocked!"

As for breaking in to my EL, the bastards didn't stuff the lock up, they went in behind it. Basically, they pushed something (screwdriver more than likely) through behind where the door handle is raised from the door and activated the locking mechanism that way. Central locking would have done the rest! The lock is completely fine, I just have a hole in the door behind the handle.

I've since bought a $50 alarm from eBay and fitted it. Won't stop people from breaking in to it, but it will make a noise when it goes off and hopefully they'll walk away without too much damage. It gets parked down at the train station every day, so I'm expecting it to happen again at some stage. Like you, I have nothing in it worth stealing, but I'm sure people would still want to have a look anyway.
