Revamped Chrysler 300

I guess once our home grown rear wheelers are gone, this will be one of our only options in the similar price segment.
What I found interesting though, with the SRT8 has being axed, that they have made the comment that the SRT8 will be made for "certain RHD countries"
Hopefully this means us! it may not be a mighty XR8, but a couple years down the track, what else would be our option for a big V8 RWD sedan that wont break the bank!

I just dont get the logic from the states sometimes.

GT350 is possible no RHD, the SRT8 300 is no LHD but possible RHD.

In saying that the car looks really nice, the rear is is much nicer than the current one. I still reckon the first series SRT8 is the pick.

Australia buys more SRT8s than the US market. So SRT8 will basically become Australia-only.

Really! never looked into sales of it in the states, lets hope they don't put the price up post 2017!

Australia is seen very much as a performance market by the car makers - even though we have some of the slowest travel speeds on the planet!

Chrysler CEO Al Gardner told US website Motor Trend that waning sales of the tyre-frying rear-drive large sedan in its domestic market could prematurely end its life in the USA, and possibly globally.

With Chrysler 300 SRT sales of around 450 for the first six months of 2014 in the US, compared to regular Chrysler 300 sales of more than 26,000 for the same period, Chrysler is finding it difficult to justify the SRT's existence.

However global sales of the Chrysler 300 SRT are in much better shape, with Australians snapping up the car in strong numbers. Local sales here almost match the US; with 409 vehicles sold here in the first half of 2014, that accounts for more than a third of all 300 sales, which are pegged at 1168 so far.

In the US a good month for SRT models is 75 units, while in Australia the SRT 8 Core model sold 99 units in June 2014.

The more affordable $56,000 SRT8 Core has sold 286 units in Australia so far, and undercuts its HSV rivals significantly on price, such as the Clubsport R8 ($73,490). It's also more powerful, pumping out 347kW/631Nm.

Australians' love of performance cars and a strong following in the Middle East could help the 300 SRT8's chances of survival, but according to reports a decision on the tyre-shredding large sedan will be made in the next couple of months, it's fate likely to be revealed at the 2014 LA motor show in November, where a face-lifted 300 will debut.

The Chrysler CEO says his company plans to refocus its efforts on volume models, such as the regular 300 sedan.

He noted that the high performance stuff will be left to Dodge to develop, which has once again taken over the running of SRT after the hot shop was left to stand on its own feet – and failed to flourish with slow sales of the SRT Viper and now 300 SRT."

The front has a bit of Audi in it, looks far nicer than the original 300C.

It's because the Dodge Charger fills the sport sedan role in North America, so America gets a Charger SRT8 and Hellcat. RHD markets don't have the Charger, so it makes sense to make an SRT8 model for the 300. You never know, maybe they will do a 300 Hellcat for RHD markets.

I fully agree with this... as a owner of the current 300c, I love the car... but if I could get a charger, I would probably buy it over the 300, and its normally a bit cheaper then the 300... not by much, but then you do lose some features as well.. but the SRT chargers look Awesome!! non-SRT current shape... no so much.

with this update... I have mixed feelings on it.

Some of the extra leather detailing (diamond patterns) are cool and suit the car.. the new steering wheel and new dials, not so much and the transmission dial looks out of place with that interior IMO. I love my interior of my luxury as its has a some what of a old school luxury look to it but with a modern touch, which I love, where this moves towards more overall modern look, which is not a bad thing and probably get more sales. and the improved tech is good.

the exterior.. the grill looks weird with the badge just floating there.. and again I prefer the current one on mine. but I do really like the new exhaust treatment at the rear and I am pretty natural with the tail lights.

The extra little bit of extra go would be good as well from the V6.

Looks great! I prefer the front to my current SRT8. The interior changes have gone down the line of the changes to the Jeep GC SRT going from MY 13 to MY14 models, vis-a-vis, the steering wheel and the LCD Speedometer.

As long as it comes in the SRT avatar, I'll be buying it again for sure!

Especially the new hedlights. SRT8 version of this will be nice

We see the 300C as more of an exclusive luxury model than the US would and the SRT8 is the pinnacle of the range so its a good seller.

Plus keep in mind its the only V8 in the current lineup available here whereas the US still gets the cooking model Hemi judging by the article. So the can still get their V8 fix without having to buy the SRT.

It makes sense that it sells well here. Reason being that it is sold here for only a few thousand$ over the price in America, similar sized German cars are sold here for more than double the American price. Pretty much over there they are competing with the Germans without much price advantage, here they are half the price or better.

Also the Charger and some of the big rwd coupes over there would also be taking potential buyers of the 300c

Problem is....it needs to sell enough in all it's markets combined to be worth even building. Doesn't mean squat if it sells well by comparison to the USA.
