Default Reverse Light Switch Replacement

Hi all,

I have a 2008 Focus TDCi and my reverse light is not working. Took it in for service and they said its not the globe but the Reverse Light Switch.

They had to order the part in which I now have.

Does anyone know how to replace one.. doing some research i believe it is located on the gearbox. Easy to see once the battery + tray and air filter is removed.

Can anyone elaborate further on replacing the switch?

Thanks,
Loris

Just unplug it, pop a socket or spanner on it undo and remove.
Screw in new one, plug back in -job done

I think I have the same problem here TDCi 2008 as well. Tested mine globe and fuse all good.
Looks like a switch problem for me too, did you find any tricky process removing the old reverse switch?

Looks like I have the same issue on our LS Focus. Is the switch in the same location on all Focus models?

Thanks, I should have said mine is the petrol so I guess I just have to get in and start pulling things out.

Removed the airbox today and was fairly easy to identify the switch on the top of the transmission. Size 22 spanner and I was able to remove it as I wanted to check it out before I got a repalcement. Checked it with a multi meter and the switch appeared to work. Anyway sprayed some wd40 on the connector and put it all back together. Reverse light now works. Could be the switch has somehow come good or the electrical connector needed cleaning.

Thanks, yes I'm anticipating it probably won't last so will keep an eye on it and replace if it goes again.
